"Brad knows his products and is very passionate about them. He believes in the items that he sells, and for good reason. We bought several items from him and have been nothing but happy with them. Our vintage home smells SO FRESH! We'd had mold years earlier and had to go through remediation. I developed mold-induced asthma, which was having a very negative impact on my quality of life. We have 3 cats and 2 dogs in the house, which creates a LOT of dust. Even though we vacuum dauly and shampoo the carpets every month, the fur is ever-present. Additionally, we have chickens that live outside, but our smaller breeds have to come into our mud room during the winter. Birds are very dusty! I am also an opera singer, but my asthma had gotten so bad that I was actually getting dizzy while trying to practice! These air scrubbers make a noticeably IMMEDIATE difference and are so easy to maintain! They're quiet too. I can breathe again with NO INHALERS OR MEDS!"

"I was referred to American Water Damage by a plumber with another company who came to my home to service a major water leak. American Water Damage has just begun the process, but so far I have been having a pleasant experience. The office personnel was very friendly and went above and beyond to schedule my appointment that same day. Jeff, project manager, came out a couple of hours later for the free consultation. He was extremely professional, knowledgeable and showed great concern for my issue. A day later, Walter, remediation technician, came to assess the damage and met with my insurance adjuster. I was very impressed with both of their knowledge, concern and thoroughness. Walter assured me that his team could start the mitigation process the next day, and he was a man of his word. His fantastic team, Malik, Anavie and Joey, arrived at my home early that next morning. The minute they entered my home, they went to work. Malik, the lead, assessed the situation, explained to me what the team was going to do, and instructed Anavie and Joey where to start. They worked diligently for hours only taking a few minutes for lunch. All of them were friendly, professional, thorough and hard working. From what I can tell, they did excellent work in demolishing and treating the disaster area. They also cleaned up the area to perfection. We are only on phase one of my process, and I am extremely satisfied thus far, especially with water mitigation. My fingers are crossed that the repair process will go as smoothly. If so, I will be writing another awesome review to recommend this company. Keep up the great work and may God continue to bless your establishment!"

"Everything went fairly well. Reggie Saunders did a great job. I had a bit of a delay in getting my report but Austin finally got back to me an went over it briefly and then quickly handed me off to Steven at Bio Cide Labs to offer remediation options."

Biohazard Remediation questions, answered by experts

While water in your basement is unlikely to make you sick unless it’s coming from a sewage backup, mold is likely to start to grow in wet areas within 24 hours, and mold can make you sick. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), inhaling mold spores can cause allergy symptoms, including runny nose, itchy eyes, difficulty breathing, wheezing, and itchy skin. Individuals with pre-existing respiratory issues like asthma and immunocompromised individuals are at an elevated risk of symptoms when inhaling mold spores.

Mold can begin growing in as little as one to two days after your ceiling has been exposed to water. Mold grows and spreads quickly and can cause serious health problems. Always ensure areas with leaks are fully dried out, and any damaged material is replaced to discourage mold growth.

Yes, drywall mud can get moldy—though the presence of moisture is required for this to happen. That’s why the best way to keep your powdered drywall mud fresh for as long as possible is to keep it in dry storage conditions. If you live in a humid area, it might not make sense to stockpile a lot of powdered drywall mud before you’re ready to use it. As for premixed drywall mud, avoid opening the container until you’re ready to use it—and don’t expect it to last longer than six months.

White mold is generally considered less harmful than black mold, which can be more toxic due to the mycotoxins it produces. However, white mold can still be harmful, particularly for individuals with mold allergies, asthma, or other respiratory conditions. Exposure can cause symptoms like nasal stuffiness, throat irritation, coughing, or skin irritation, and it can exacerbate existing health issues. Because any type of mold can pose health risks, all mold infestations should be treated seriously. Prompt remediation is necessary, and you should take proper precautions, such as wearing protective gear and using appropriate cleaning agents, when dealing with it.

It is safe to remove old linoleum, but it may require the help of a specialist due to the risk of asbestos in the material. Before you cut into linoleum or try to peel it up, have it tested for asbestos. If it tests positive, professionals will need to remove it to prevent the risk of health issues from airborne toxic particles. If it’s asbestos-free, DIY removal is possible and safe.
