We are a locally owned business since 2004. We are not franchised. We are fully insured for both mold inspections and remediation. We do crawlspace waterproofing. We can do encapsulation in crawlspaces. We are honest with our customers and believe in fixing problems not causing them. When you call our number you will actually speak with the owner Mike Smith. He is certified with the IICRC in both mold and water damage. Mike is very honest with his customers. If he tells you something needs to be done then it needs to be done. He won't sell a job just for the business. Our reputation is very important to us.

"Mike and his team are so professional. They did the job quickly, correctly, and for a very fair price."

When you have mold, making the correct decisions right away is critical. Whether it is mold in your home, school, place of work, or apartment there are many factors to consider. Are you going to be involved in a mold lawsuit? Will you be seeking property damages? Is anyone sick from mold exposure? Will you be seeking medical damages? Will you need expert witnesses? If so, what kind? Do you just want to test to be sure your environment is safe? Do you need post mold remediation testing to ensure a good job was done? These and other factors are questions which need to be answered before any environmental testing starts. It is important to know what your goals are and why your testing. Different goals require different environmental tests, i.e. medical damages and property damages require different environmental tests to prove your case in court. Tests that a common, or inexperienced, mold inspector would not typically use or know to use.

"I would not classify this company as a Pro as they are misleading in what services you are receiving. as a first-time homeowner trying to find a trusted to help with a suspected mold issue. This involved repairs to my ceiling after a roof leak and possible mold in the crawl space. After receiving estimates and a few phone conversations, I explained I only needed the ceiling inside fixed for now. As of today, I find out there was actually a little bit of information no one mentioned. They quote you the price to come in, tear down the ceiling, remove the mold and insulation, put plastic up, and set up dryers to dry up any moisture. After all of that, you must go through round 2 of getting an estimate and paying more money to get them to actually fix the hole in the ceiling that was left from the mold removal. Now, if you have no idea what mold removal entails, how to fix a ceiling where the water damage has happened, the cost associated with such a fix, or know that the first repair estimate does not really mean to fix your issue, you are like me. The amount of money charged, for my first home repair, was quite a bit. Maybe I am and have a lot to learn, but the amount seemed to be enough to fix the issue completely. I decided to pay out of pocket. Lesson learned to get several quotes to prevent these from happening in the future and go with your insurance because they know how this goes and what to expect. The biggest complaint I have is what I was told was misleading and their response seems like they could careless of the misunderstanding. When this happens, it is usually because they have heard this complaint before, and everyone knows there is a lack of clarity, but no one fixes it. I have spoken with 2 people today about not knowing about the second go around. The first one simply added my complaint to his notes after calling someone and the other said, well it was in the email we send when we provide the estimate and if you change your mind on the repairs let us know. I found the email they referred to and it states: These estimates do not include any repair costs that will be associated with these areas once drying is completed. I also found in the document they leave you What happens next? nothing about 2 separate estimates. Interestingly, Step 4 states that the paint may not be an exact match. This is what you read prior to learning what drying to them means. Drying to me simply meant the paint is dry on the repair and they have completed the work. I just caution people who use this company to read and research what you need to be done. They are not a trusted advisor to take you through educating you on the complete process when it comes to your repairs. Needless to say, I will not be using them to help with the crawl space since I have no idea what round 2 of that would cost me or if there is any fine print."

Here’s what sets us apart: Water Removal and Storm Damage Restoration: When water wreaks havoc due to storms or other incidents, we’re here to help. Comprehensive Services: Beyond mold and water remediation, we handle storm damage repairs, basement flood cleanup and fire restoration. Choose Tri State Flood Inc for reliable, efficient, and compassionate restoration services. We’re committed to restoring peace of mind and protecting your property.

"Lesson learned. Always get an estimate. BEFORE the work is done. At least a digital copy. Arrangements for the project were made, with some one named Lynn, for the company to send someone to complete the work. We were quoted over the phone 4500-5000 which included a mold test. A sub contractor with an entirely different company (National Mold Company) was sent. When the contractor arrived, he stated that the job would be much more simpler than first thought. This led us to believe that the job would cost less, no. All said and done, they charged $5500. All said and done, it's almost like no work was done. The stains and the smell are still there. Only one actual board was taken upon the attic room. The ceiling in the bedroom was primed and painted but are still visible and have a funky smell. At this point I'm going to. Do what we should have done; Do the job ourselves. Just now with $5500 less dollars in our pockets. A detailed receipt was not given even though it was requested."

There are no employees or sub-contractors--you hire me and you get me. I'm a Nationally Certified Master Inspector, Licensed Building Official, International Code Council (ICC) certified residential inspector and Building Official, NC Licensed Home Inspector, SC Licensed Home Inspector, Certified Thermographer, Certified Mold Inspector, Certified Indoor Air Consultant, member of the National Association of Certified Home Inspectors. I've totaled thousands of inspections and completed countless hours of training since the business began in 2005, including NC required annual training. I have two university bachelor degrees. I inspected hundreds of homes and commercial buildings as a code inspector (Building Official) for three years during the Great Recession (the builders were excited to see me resign that position). Previous careers include four years as an Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) Compliance Officer inspecting the construction industry in SC. OSHA ingrained in me a detective-like mindset, along with thoroughness, documentation and report writing skills that are the main assets I bring to the home inspection industry. While with OSHA, I inspected a major hydro-electric project being built by Duke Power Company, and they hired me. I spent the following eleven years in the electric utility industry with Duke Energy in managerial and scientific positions, including Safety Supervisor at nuclear, fossil, and hydro plants. See my website for more details and sample reports.

"I am a local real estate agent and have used Alpha & Omega Home Inspections for years professionally and more recently for our personal home which we just renovated. Joe Funderburk (Inspector) did the pre dry wall inspection as well as the final inspection and did a great and very thorough job. Trust him very much. Very much endorse their services to others in need of home inspections."

FAQs for biohazard remediation projects in New London, NC

There are several instances where household biohazard cleanup would be needed. All in all, anytime an event can potentially expose people to chemicals, pathogens, or viruses, a biohazard cleanup company must be called. These events can include:

  • Sewage backup

  • Unattended death or crime scene after death

  • Virus decontamination

  • Medical waste disposal

  • Animal waste disposal

  • Odor control

  • Hazardous chemical removal

The cost of biohazard cleanup averages between $3,000 and $5,000 for most homeowners. Some services, like sanitizing high-traffic areas or sanitizing surfaces from a virus, cost closer to $1,500. However, other circumstances, like the extensive cleanup after a major sewer backup, could cost as much as $25,000

While a biohazard cleanup sounds like a scary process, knowing what to expect can help ease your concerns and set you up for success. It’s good to note that more than one professional might be needed depending on your situation, but that will be determined during the assessment. What you can expect during a home biohazard cleanup is the following:

  • Assessment: The first step in this process is for a biohazard cleanup professional to assess the damage. They create a report that includes the biohazard safety level, the needed damage cleanup, and the time it should take to complete the project.

  • Setup: The cleanup professional prepares the site to prevent cross-contamination and reduce toxicity risk. This process can include tarping and creating decontamination zones.

  • Removal of surface contamination: Any contaminated materials are removed from the area, starting with large materials followed by small ones. The professional can assess any floor-related damage once everything is removed from the site.

  • Salvaging items: The biohazard cleanup professionals assess which items can be saved and which are contaminated beyond the point of saving. Those deemed unsafe will be disposed of immediately.

  • Waste disposal: The next step is carefully disposing of the hazardous waste. Your professional will place the contaminated items in specific containers to keep the contamination from spreading.

  • Disinfection: The house will be disinfected and odor-neutralized. Even more minor details, like light switches and bulbs, will be disinfected so that they do not recontaminate the area in the future.

  • Restoration: Once the decontamination is complete, the last step is to restore the home. This includes repairing the damage to flooring, walls, or even the home's foundation.

Most homeowner’s insurance policies can help cover the cost of biohazard cleanings for specific events. Biohazard events like unattended death, infectious disease, and medical emergency are generally covered, as are flooring and drywall repairs. It’s best to check with your insurance company to see what is specifically covered.

One of the best ways to prepare for a home biohazard cleanup is not to touch anything. Do not remove belongings, even if they are of value or importance, from the area as they are likely contaminated. It’s essential not to use any cleaning products of your own, as the cleaning company will be using chemicals that could interact with your products.

One thing you can do to prepare is take pictures of your space and belongings that need to be cleaned, especially if you plan on filing a claim with your insurance company. In addition, take time to make a list of items that are valuable, sentimental, or otherwise important. The cleanup company must evaluate these belongings to make sure they are safe.
