"Very well-they were quick & for most part were able to do the majority of the work from the outside. They arrived very early & spent all day (ended roughly around 4?-didn't check the time) *there were close to 30 windows, one specialty window that a 2 man team installed. They asked that we move everything away from the windows to avoid any damages. Advised us to avoid putting items back for at least 24 hours to allow the seals to set properly. They arrived before I was fully awake-they want to get it done in 1 day! Would advise that you set your alarm early!"

"We replaced the windows in our 1933 home through the services of MadCity Windows. From the initial contact with their sales representative to final installation, the company provided top notch professional work. With the draft from the old windows and the cold of the glass, we are already saving on our energy bills. Our house had old, large windows, so they had to be custom made. As an industrial designer and interior designer, we find our windows to be of excellent quality."

Small jobs welcome

"Mr. Jordan replaced three window screens for us. The windows had not had screens for as long as we have had this house. The screens are exactly what we expected and they fit perfectly. The job was completed in a timely manner and the cost was very reasonable. As a plus, Mr. Jordan is personable."

"I have nothing but rave reviews for the three women from GI Cleaning Services who came to clean my house today. I needed a thorough cleaning before Thanksgiving and it’s spotless now. Three women cleaned for 2 hours without taking a break. They worked the entire time they were here and the house looks immaculate! I have hardwood floors and they made them shine. They dusted, cleaned, or vacuumed every nook and cranny. They clean the blinds, baseboards, window sills, each piece of furniture, they vacuum the walls and door casings, etc. My tub/shower and entire bathroom looks amazing and sparkles. I highly recommend the women who came to clean my house from GI Cleaning Services. They work hard, the results are great, and the price is very reasonable. I will definitely call them again."

"I reported a window sealant problem beneath several windows, and my concern that I also may have a house foundation issue. I was given an inspection appointment. Daniel Messer conducted a thorough inspection, inside and outside, and determined that our foundation is solid, but we have a water leakage problem. This is causing rain water to enter beneath our windows, resulting in a significant window trim gap and separation from the window. Daniel was very polite and helpful, advising that we most likely need a carpenter specialist to alleviate our problem. My wife and I really appreciate his honest evaluation."

Windows questions, answered by experts

Arched windows used to be most prevalent in more traditional home styles, like Spanish colonial and Gothic, but they are becoming increasingly popular in modern design. You’ll often find arched windows in new home builds across many styles, including farmhouse and contemporary architecture. This represents a more general trend toward more unique houses with interesting features.

Windows provide light and a view of the outdoors without the inconveniences that the outside world can come with, like noise, rain, snow, and unpleasant scents. Vinyl windows also provide energy efficiency thanks to their insulating properties, keeping your home at its coziest temperature no matter what season it is. They’re also excellent noise dampeners, so your interior space can stay calm and quiet.

Yes, storm windows should be tempered. According to the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors, tempered glass is stronger and can withstand temperatures higher than laminated glass. Tempered glass is important for storm windows because it protects against outside elements and household accidents by not producing sharp, jagged pieces when it breaks or shatters.

Most modern egress windows installed in basements open outward into a window well, although some older homes have in-swing windows. Egress windows, like casement windows used in other parts of the home, such as bedrooms and bathrooms, may open inward, and these windows are often larger than outward-opening windows.

Removing a window isn’t a very long process. Depending on several factors, it can take anywhere from 20 minutes to upwards of an hour. The size of the window greatly impacts the time it takes to replace it. Accessibility is another big component. If it’s hard to reach the window or reaching it is dangerous, anticipate it taking longer.

Lastly, if the old window is in poor condition, it could take longer to remove it safely—especially if the frame has wood rot and is structurally unsound.
