"Excellent! The Hidden Cove Construction crew was awesome. They did a fantastic job in a really difficult situation. The roof they replaced was underneath a large outdoor deck and there was little room to work. They were up and down multiple ladders for two straight days, working in tight spaces, and finished the job ahead of schedule. I highly recommend them. They are very diligent, dependable, and meticulous. I would hire them again anytime."

Small jobs welcome

"I hired Fidelity Roofing to replace the roof and gutter system on my historic house. First, they had to remove the complicated leaking hidden gutter system, messy flat tar roofs, and shingled roofs. The new roof and gutter system look absolutely amazing. It is rare to find a company like Fidelity Roofing that has integrity, craftsmanship, and take real pride in their work. They are true roofing experts and I highly recommend them."

"Huey and his crew performed an excellent job on my garage's flat roof which had been leaking for a while. They identified water damaged plywood roof decking and replaced it with new wood as seen in the photos. Communication with Hugh was excellent and he beat the closest estimate by a thousand bucks. The crew worked quickly, efficiently and neatly hauling away all of the old roofing material with them. The entire project was complete in one day. It has rained a few times since the job was finished and not a drop of water has gotten through the new roof! These guys are highly recommened!"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

The average cost of a metal roof for a 2,000-square-foot home is $11,700, but your price can range from $12,000 to $90,000, depending on the number of stories you have, your roof design, and the specific metal you choose. Reach out to a metal roofing company to get an accurate estimate customized for your home.

There are two main types of roofing shingles: 3-tab and architectural. Architectural shingles cost more than 3-tab but offer a more unique look and can last longer. However, 3-tab shingles are lightweight and affordable, and many people use them for both patching roofs and installing new roofs. Ultimately, the best type for you depends on your budget and your home’s aesthetic.

A properly installed, high-quality tarp can be left on a roof for up to 90 days. However, this is only a temporary measure and not a substitute for proper roof repair or replacement. Thinner tarps or those exposed to heavy wind and rain may not last the full 90 days, so it's important to monitor the tarp's condition to ensure it continues to protect your roof from the elements.

The average cost to winterize a house is about $250, but it can range from $65 to $1,000 depending on the type of work that needs to be done. For homeowners that are experienced DIYers, it can save quite a bit on costs. However, you shouldn’t attempt tasks you aren’t familiar with or are potentially dangerous.

The most common slope range for roofs on houses in snowy areas is between 4/12 and 6/12, or 50%. A roof with a slope of less than 10%, or roughly a 2/12 pitch, won’t be effective at shedding snow. However, roofs that are too steep can allow large amounts of snow to build up and fall all at once, creating a hazard for those on the ground.
