"Walker Electric did a great job each time I hired them. On separate occasions they installed two ceiling fans, installed an electric outlet, and finally installed a full house generator. I will have them out again when there is need, and recommend their service to family and friends."

I chose to work in this industry because I was always interested in electrical, and was offered to enroll in an apprenticeship program with my first electric company in Nashville, TN. It was mostly a commercial company. There I gained lots of valuable knowledge. After graduating from the 4 year trade school I became a foreman. Then moved back to Dallas TX to work for a residential service company. I also enjoyed this aspect of electrical. There is more troubleshooting involved. The owner of this company taught me a lot and we still keep in touch. Then I moved to North Carolina to pursue my own business. I can do most commercial and residential projects. I look forward to hearing from you.

Small jobs welcome

"Brian did an excellent job connecting power to my storage shed. He was very thorough and communicated every step of the way. He was also efficient and completed this project in the timeline that he gave me. His pricing is affordable and his work is excellent. I would recommend Brian for any electrical work that you need done, and I plan to hire him again for future electrical work that I need done."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Local electricians with experience in your area understand the local building codes, which is very important when doing new electrical work. They also have experience with the kind of electrical problems homes in your location may have, and even the components that were used in the original construction, which leads them to make faster and better decisions.

Yes, you can put a GFCI outlet in almost any electrical outlet location. As long as the outlet is wired correctly back to a circuit breaker, you can likely replace the existing outlet with a GFCI outlet.

Usually, a light switch goes bad due to normal wear and tear. Light switches are mechanical devices with internal moving parts. These parts make contact with each other, and, over time, the friction can wear them down, causing the switch to feel loose, arc, or fail to operate.

Switching the hot and neutral wires in an outlet or receptacle, a condition known as reverse polarity, is dangerous. While the outlet will still function and provide power, it creates a significant electrical shock hazard because anything plugged into it will remain electrified even when switched off. If you touch a conductive part of the appliance, such as the metal components of a toaster, you could receive an electric shock.

Volts and watts aren’t directly convertible units—they measure different aspects of electricity. Volts measure electrical potential, while watts quantify the power. The relationship between the two is defined by the equation: Power (watts)= Voltage (volts) x Current (amperes). In other words, the product of volts and amps results in watts, but there is no fixed conversion of volts into watts.
