"We were so impressed with the Odyssey team from start to finish. Caleb was very thorough in explaining the details of the roofing project, and he was always accessible when we had questions throughout the process. When they came to do the roofing work, they were very considerate and hard-working. Frank and Carlos were very personable and professional. When we had concerns, they addressed them right away. I highly recommend Odyssey Contracting and would not hesitate to call them again when we have a construction project. Thanks for your excellent service!"

"Great! We generated online quotes through Angie's List to 4 contractors on 6/11/18. Only 1 emailed us with a quote (which was too high). We figured it was a dead end, got distracted with other things & forgot about it. Then a few weeks later we got a call out of the blue from Hector. He apologized for the delayed response as he said he had been very busy. It was a great call out of the blue. He said he could come out immediately & came out the next day as promised. We discussed the price once he saw my house & gutter system. He cleaned the outside of 4 skylights while he was up there. Hector worked very hard, cleaned up all the debris & left the outside of the grounds in great shape. Hector is very polite & a hard worker! I think you will be very happy if you give Hector a call."

"This is the second time we have hired Junior and he continues to impress us. He is super responsive and works harder than any contractor we have hired. He has high standards and ensures that work is completed with a great attention to detail. He is so trustworthy and honest; we left him with keys to our home. He goes above and beyond and is an absolute pleasure to work with from start to finish!"

"He is thorough, and very detail conscience.  His work and pricing is straight forward.  He separates the cost of Labor vs Parts and Supply.  This means you can see there are no hidden markups in the total estimate.  This is the most tricky part of most estimates, and why Hammer Handyman sometimes 'seems' more expensive.  I have been low-balled by many contractors, and then suddenly towards the end of the project there is some cost over-runs that were never estimated or Parts and Supply from companies I have never heard of that all of a sudden I need to install or the project will not finish.  I never feel that I am being fleeced with Don."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

One of the most common house framing basics for decades has been using wood for the framing work. However, some framing contractors now suggest using steel frames. Steel is lightweight, resistant to fire, and resistant to moisture, all of which are areas where wood framing could cause problems. However, steel framing is more expensive than wood and limits your ability to insulate the home.

The cost to install a bow window can range from $1,500 to $15,000, with a national average of $3,900. The total price includes materials, which can cost between $1,200 and over $14,000, and labor, which typically adds $300 to $1,900. Several factors influence the final cost, including the window's size and frame material. For example, vinyl frames are the most budget-friendly option, while wood frames are more expensive. Custom features or energy-efficient upgrades will also increase the price. For comparison, a bay window installation typically costs between $1,000 and $7,000.

The primary parts of a house that need framing during construction are floors, exterior walls, interior walls, and the roof. The framing in these areas provides the skeleton for adding other materials over the top. With walls, for example, contractors can hang drywall over the interior walls and siding over the outside of the exterior walls. Proper framing ensures a sturdy house that is built to last.

Yes, most services include necessary frame modifications for proper door fitting. Confirm with your provider.

Framing most homes takes anywhere between five and eight weeks to complete. You’ll need to account for inclement weather conditions, material shipment times, the number of crew members, and the weight of your materials. If the weather is too hot, wet, or cold for the installation, this process could take closer to eight weeks.
