Purchased Angie's Big Deal for 4 hours of home improvement/handyman services.  Mr. John Schmidt, owner, showed up at the designated time to estimate our work for future scheduling, but when he saw the nature of the work, he requested to go ahead and get started and he would do the work right then.  Working from our list of about 10 different repairs, small projects, and hanging light fixtures.

Mr. Schmidt was personal, professional, and very knowledgeable about the work we needed done and offered suggestions that improved the projects beyond our ideas.

If needed, we would certainly be willing to hire Innovative Design again to do larger projects/remodels, etc.

"Initially we asked for a full bathroom to be place in the laundry room of our basement. We also asked for the washer and dryer to be set up to work in our garage. Shane gave us an estimate of between $6000 and $8500. This was about what we wanted to spend and gave the ok. As he began to buy the materials that would address our needs he came back to us and recommended that we move one wall out 2 feet. The bathroom will be used primarily for my father who is 82 and he asked for a special shower with a seat and handles. We felt this was reasonable and were actually happy with Shane’s plan which would allow Dad more room. Shane also found a pump that would work for the shower, toilet and sink. Understandably, another estimate had to be drawn up and this brought the total cost to $11,000. Considering everything that was being done, we felt the increase was reasonable. Shane explain to us what actions he was taking throughout the project and we felt confident he would do the job right. He completed the job two weeks ago now and we are totally satisfied."

Here are some things that we noted along the way: 1) He was careful to keep dust confined as best as possible. 2) We didn't give him a key to the house, but told him that he could just exit through the front door at the end of each day, leaving it unlocked. However, he wanted the house to be secured for us, so he locked the front door, and just stepped over the garage door sensor as it was closing. We were appreciative of his consideration and ingenuity. 3) He placed drop cloths from the garage door all the way through the house to the bathroom so that he wouldn't track up the floor and carpet. (He removed them at the end of each day) 4) He always showed up when he said he would. If he was running a bit late for some reason, he would send a text saying when he would be there. 5) He was dedicated to our project alone for the entire time it took to complete. 6) He worked consistently each day - from around 9:00 am - 4:30 pm. 7) He kept in touch with us constantly, showing us things, wanting our opinions, letting us know if he was going to be picking something up, etc. 8) He paid attention to detail, wanting everything to be as perfect as possible. 9) He listened well, and went out of his way to do little things that were important to us. 10) He was friendly and easy to talk with. 11) He was entirely trustworthy. We left him working in our house all day while we were gone."
