"After talking to our neighbors who referred them we decided to hire them. We new the repairs and renovations would be extensive and we wanted someone with tons of experience. We signed a contract and had the job scheduled. The project has been done for a few months and we are still happy. After the work was done we had a small issue with one of our cabinets. They completely honored their warranty and kept their word. Our basement is no longer flooding and our newly designed kitchen and bath are absolutely beautiful. They did some really fantastic work."

"I needed all the wooden cabinets, shelves, and workbenches removed from the walls of my basement so that a waterproofing system could be put in. I then needed that to be all reinstalled so that it hung from the joists and did not perforate the plastic waterproofing sheeting that was placed over the walls. This job went fantastically well! Tom got back to me right away, was able to come right away, and really saved my bacon to get me ready for the water-proofing installation right on time. He put in a big day's work putting everything back better than it was before and came up with inventive ways to reinstall everything so that it wouldn't perforate the sheeting. Without him, I wouldn't have even thought it possible to reinstall everything. Tom was really easy to work with, did what he said he would (and better) and did it on time. He's the best!"

"I contacted Jacob from 360 home repair after a recommendation from another person. He returned my call the next day (and apologized for not getting back to me sooner!), and we had the work scheduled for the next week. When he arrived he went straight to work assessing the problem, and had soon figured out where the leak was coming from. Incidentally, other people had looked at the window and made attempts to fix it to no avail. The night after he made the repair we had a major storm, and we were so glad to see not a single drop of water enter through that window! Throughout the process Jacob was very professional, and assured me that if the problem wasn't fixed he would be back to try again to resolve it. Thankfully it never came to that. I honestly don't know much about contractor pricing, but the $75.00 he charged me certainly seemed very reasonable to me. I will definitely recommend this company to others, and will probably be using them in the not too distant future for some remodel work that we need done."

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

It is generally more affordable to finish a basement than an attic, though it ultimately depends on how you plan to use the space. The average cost to finish a basement ranges from $7 to $23 per square foot, while attic renovation costs $30 to $60 per square foot. However, a simple attic conversion to a storage space will cost significantly less.

Basements are commonly converted into game rooms. The potential challenges you may run into include controlling moisture, working with low ceilings, limited natural light, and the need for additional electrical or HVAC work. Addressing these issues can add to the total cost, but it ensures a comfortable and functional space.

Joists and beams are both part of the flooring system above your basement, with the beams spanning the length of your home and getting support from vertical posts underneath, and joists usually spanning half the width of your home with no support posts underneath. The floor joists provide even support to the subflooring and flooring above, and they distribute that load to the beams. The beams then distribute that load down through the support posts to the foundation.

Basements with persistent moisture problems or flooding shouldn’t be finished until the moisture issues have been fixed. In addition, if your foundation is cracked, you have unmitigated radon levels, or you have asbestos or lead pipes, remediate the underlying problem before finishing your basement. Turning a basement into living space before fixing these issues can lead to serious health risks or structural damage.

Whether it’s more affordable to gut a house than build a new one depends on the markets where you'd be buying and selling. However, it’s usually less expensive to renovate a home than to build new construction.

Most homeowners pay between $100,000 and $200,000 for demolition and remodeling costs, whereas the average cost to build a new home is between $139,000 and $531,300.
