"JMS Tree service removed 2 very large pine trees and trimmed the remaining. They were fast and efficient. They arrived on time and they cleaned up the area. Very reasonable price. Would definitely recommend them."

"Nelson was very knowledgeable about the trees and pointed out what I should look for. In the quote, he offered also for the team to clear out some of the other smaller trees and debris in the yard. The team came out on time and finished the job quickly, cleaning up well at the end."

"Jose (Royal Park Treework LLC) arrived right on time and his appearance was impeccable. I was greeted with a warm smile and a handshake. I will also add that Yvonne was really nice on the phone when I made the appointment. I had three Bradford Pear trees to be removed. While I was discussing the situation with Jose, he impressed me with his knowledge and how he explained exactly what he would do. I had looked up what price range for this type of job and his price was very fair. Jose and his team came back the same day. It was done quickly (they worked non-stop), and everything was cleaned up when they left. He even trimmed a tree that was getting overgrow-looks great. All in all, a class act, job well done! I plan on hiring him again later this year to do stump grinding and next Spring when I will plant a different type of tree. Thanks to all at Royal Park Treework and Landscaping for a great job!!! Kristine Frey"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Pruning can impact cold hardiness—but it’s less about the exact temperature and more about temperature variation. Generally, you don’t want to prune trees when there’s a risk of temperatures suddenly dropping from 50 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit to 0 degrees Fahrenheit or below. A tree is most sensitive until 48 hours after it’s pruned.

For Bradford pears, damage from storms is common, and if the trunk splits, it can pose a danger to people and surrounding structures. The best thing to do in that instance is to have the tree removed. If there’s only minor damage to the branches, pruning away the damaged parts is the first order of business. You may also want to consult a professional arborist to make sure the tree is healthy.

A few signs a tree may be dead is if the leaves are dead and there are no signs of new blooms. You can also perform a scratch test on some of the branches to check the condition of the cambium layer beneath the bark.

If it is green, it is still alive, but if several are dry, brittle, and brown, the tree may be dying or dead. Always consult an arborist before assuming your tree is dead because you may be able to save it.

There are four common ways to prune a tree correctly: crown thinning, crown reduction, crown raising, and crown cleaning. The method you choose depends on the purpose of pruning. However, making the correct cuts is a vital part of the process, regardless of your method. Pruning incorrectly can damage or even kill the tree. So, you may want to hire a professional tree-trimming company to tackle the task.

The average lifespan of an oak tree is 100 to 300 years, so long as it isn’t impacted by diseases like sudden oak death. Some species will last shorter or longer, depending on where you live.
