"We hired Mr. Handyman to paint our gables and soffitt. The employee was inexperienced. After setting up, she approached me and said she had made a mistake and didn't understand that she was painting the gables. The estimate we accepted stated painting 3 gables and soffitts. She said she needed to re-estimate the work. Eventually, we agreed on a new [much higher price that her boss approved.] She did very little work before she went back to the company van and sat in it. The office manager arrived to say that she was sick and someone else would be coming the next morning to do the agreed upon job. He started the job and my husband went to talk to him. He stated he was only doing the gables per his boss. The boss called immediately and was irate. He insisted the work was only to paint the gables. I told him we had both a written estimate and video recording [of the renegotiation] stating the work to be done. He insisted we pay more. I asked why, we already agreed and he hung up on me. "

Our Company is different because our people are different. We strive to give our customers 100% satisfaction. Our goal is to stand out against all competition, not just so we get more business but because we want to be a good testimony for our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I have been preaching God's Word for 20 years now, and before that i was privileged to serve in the United States Marine Corps. I have five children that work in the business with me by way of secretarial, website building, and social media, as well as manual labor. I hope you will consider us for your next job!

"Hired this company to come in and clean out brush inside and outside of fence, removal of bushes n stumps, lawn maintenance and future possible landscaping additions. Johnathan's idea of bush and stump removal was to cut the tops off at ground level. When wife asked about a bush, his reply was i don't know I'm not a bush guy. When Johnathan realized he would not be able to remove the stumps he told me he would need to bring a tractor in to do so. I then received a quote for additional charges for same work quoted in the original charge, I also noticed that the original agreed upon quote now had more charges attached without my approval. They were suppose to come back to finish digging out 5 bushes and 2 stumps with a tractor but instead I got a text finally giving me a quote for additional work we talked about but at this time we had already hired in someone else. When informing them of this, all of a sudden it became inconvenient to bring tractor over to finish the job and well they offered a reduction of $187.50. Thus leaving me with 5 bushes and 2 stumps still needing to be removed. This is my story, don't let it be your story. They obviously are not aware that bushes cut off at top grow back and is not a removal but merely a Rejuvenation pruning. They are ill equipped to remove stumps and know nothing about trees, flowers or bushes. They merely know only how to mow and trim, not what they lead me to believe. I thought i was hiring true landscapers not someone to mow, weed eat and spray. Totally misled on this one. I gave one star it was only option. Never showed when said they were coming it was like guessing game"

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

Small hairline cracks in plaster walls are not serious and are mostly cosmetic, but larger or widespread cracks indicate structural problems that need repair.

  • Cracks 0.5 cm (0.2 inches) or thinner: Cosmetic cracks you can repair if desired.

  • Cracks wider than 0.5 centimeters or widespread cracks: Structural repair is needed, either DIY or by a pro.

  • Cracks 2.5 centimeters (1 inch) or wider: Contact a plaster repair professional.

Watch for large, deep cracks, multiple cracks in the same area, and cracks along the walls where they meet the ceiling. Repair these cracks to prevent further damage.

Like many other repair projects, the cost to fix a behind-the-wall shower leak depends on several factors. The cost of your repair may depend on the type of leak (from a clog or burst pipe), type of piping, and location of the leak. The extent of the issue and how difficult it is to access the pipes can greatly impact and increase your price. On average, you can expect to pay around $150 to $600 to repair a leaking shower.

Drywall can be better than plaster if you’re installing a new wall and want to keep costs low. It’s much cheaper than installing plaster and provides a smooth, uniform surface. Many homeowners simply paint over the drywall or add a texture like sand or orange peel. It’s also much easier to DIY than plaster, and if you need to change your layout, it’s much easier to remove.

If your home was built before the 1940s and was not remodeled in the past 50 or so years, you probably have plaster walls. Aside from assuming, there are some practical ways to tell if you have plaster walls, including the following: If you knock on the wall and it feels solid, not hollow, if you can’t insert a thumbtack easily, if there are cracks that look like spiderwebs, or if your home has curved, arched, or swirled walls, doorways, or window openings.

If you have an unfinished basement or attic, you could examine the backs of any finished walls to check, too.

Depending on the quality of the plaster and the moisture in the building, plaster can last over 100 years in some cases. It may develop cracks in some places, but many find it aesthetically appealing. As long as no structural damage affects the plaster and maintenance is being performed—mainly repairing small patches and addressing water damage—plaster can last a long time.
