"The 2 man team arrived exactly on time and immediately started working. They answered all of my questions patiently during the project. I had a concern with the ceiling fan since the family room has a 20ft ceiling, the work went very smoothly. Installation of the cabinet lighting was more involved then I imagined, however, it went very smoothly as well. When the work was completed they cleaned up the work areas. The final cost of the project was the same as the estimate. I would definitely use Viva electric again for large or small electrical projects."

"Outstanding! Jason arrived promptly and respected my property by removing his shoes while indoors and laid down cloth to protect my floors. He cleaned up everything once he finished and left my house as he found it. Bonus....an electrician from a different company previously told me that one of my light fixtures attached to a fan would need to be re-built or replaced. I asked Jason to take a look and he quickly identified the problem and fixed it. Turns out a little switch on the socket had been turned off; I didn't need a re-build or replace after all. Jason saved me quite a bit of money and time and scored a few points. John has also worked at my house replacing an exterior ceiling fan on the porch - same great service and respect! Ashley handled the scheduling and she is friendly and pleasant to speak with. My schedule is a little tricky at times and she worked diligently to schedule Jason and John when it worked best for me. By far the best electrical company I've worked with; I highly recommend!"

"The complete experience with Mister Sparky was very professional starting with the customer service reps, appointment scheduling and the high quality work completed by the service technician. The job included installation and wiring a ceiling fan, 2 flood lights, new fixtures, repairing outdoor outlets and inspection of the electrical panel. I would recommend this team for any job. Excellent work"

"I don't know where to begin.  The patio was an ugly flat cracked round slab of aging concrete, which I attempted to landscape in an effort to improve the area.  Lets say it was just OK.
In comes Clive and his team.  Magic
The design was so lovely and couldn't believe what he was going to do for us after we had interviewed several contractors, they paled in comparison to what Clive was offering. It was not a hard decision.  Outdoor Artisan surpassed our expectations. We wanted a Pacific Northwest feel to our arts and craft style home and he delivered and successfully captured that feel to our North Carolina home!
Clive will during the construction process, create extra special touches or decide on a different approach. Giving him the creative license to do that in my humble opinion was the right choice.  As I myself had trouble really knowing what I wanted.
There was a lot of custom work done, the fire pit is a work of art and will hate burning wood in it but I will :)
The bubbler is a serene refreshing place that accents the fire pit and boulders.  Earth, Fire and Water.  Perfect.
The choice in trees and plants I could not have chosen any better.  The Plum trees and Coral Bark Japanese Maple accent each other and break away from the overload of green in our yard.  The plants also accentuate the colors of the trees with a variety of dark plums and fiery yellow shrubs and blooming plants that accent the surrounding areas with pops of color.   Clive expertly arranged all the lighting elements to accent the various trees, boulders, water feature, pergola and patio step riser.  The place looks amazing in the dark. I can decide what is my most favorite time of the day.
A fan shaped pergola was created with accents of the same artistic stone work just under the supporting beams with an overhead fan and accent lighting on the stone bases.
The team was so proactive, thoughtful and helpful though out the process.  For us it was our first major home project and Clive
exercised a lot of patience with all our questions; always kind and considerate and communicated on a daily basis with any updates to the day.
Thank you Clive and entire team.  You guys are truly the best.  We will enjoy our backyard for the years to come and would not
hesitate in recommending Outdoor Artisan to anyone who wants something special and very well done.
We now have a Sunset Magazine style outdoor retreat."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

When choosing a mounting bracket, you have the option between flush mounts and downrod mounts. Flush mounts are the better option for low ceilings as they feature a lower profile. Downrod mounts are the optimal choice for rooms with high ceilings as they offer a pole that adjusts the height of the fan.

Yes, ceiling fans come with a few other features that help with function, style, and convenience. Multi-speed fans can give you specialized control over the airflow. Consider getting one with an integrated light to save ceiling space. Some ceiling fans come with a remote control that enables you to change direction without climbing a ladder. Of course, you can also consider installing a wall switch to enjoy that convenience.

The most efficient ceiling fan height is 8 to 9 feet from the floor to the fan blades. For ceilings higher than 9 feet, a downrod can be used to lower the fan to the optimal height. This positioning ensures adequate air circulation and maximizes the cooling effect. Remember, fans should be installed at least 7 feet above the floor for safety.

The square footage of your room will dictate the correct ceiling fan blade size. For example:

  • Rooms smaller than 75 square feet require a fan that is 29 to 36 inches.

  • Rooms up to 175 square feet require 42- to 48-inch fans.

  • Rooms up to 350 square feet require 52- to 56-inch fans.

  • Expansive spaces over 350 square feet need a fan larger than 60 inches.

The direction you want your ceiling fan to move in depends on the season you’re in. During summer, you want it to move counterclockwise to produce a cooling downdraft. During winter, you want it to move clockwise to circulate warm air throughout the room.
