"Chris was very thorough and went above and beyond which is why we chose Crawl Space Jam for our project. We needed full crawl space encapsulation with a dehumidifier due to moisture and mold issues. Other companies recommended installing perimeter drainage and a sump pump in addition to encapsulation. Chris did the extra work to uncover an existing perimeter drain in our crawl space and he even tested it to ensure it was draining properly. I recommend Crawl Space Jam without hesitation."

"I can’t say enough good things about Derrick with Fortress Vapor Solutions. From the first inspection to the final walkthrough, everything was handled professionally and efficiently. He showed me exactly what was going on in my crawlspace with pictures and explained it in a way that actually made sense. The work itself was outstanding—clean, thorough, and done right the first time. The encapsulation completely transformed my crawlspace, and the musty smell in my home is completely gone. You can tell he takes real pride in what he does. What really surprised me was the price. After getting a couple other quotes, I was expecting to pay a lot more for this kind of work. Derrick came in very fair without cutting any corners, which made the whole decision easy. If you’re dealing with moisture or crawlspace issues, do yourself a favor and call Fortress Vapor Solutions. Honest work, great results, and pricing that actually makes sense."

"Installed sump pump. Didn’t press for the more expensive, expansive project. I appreciated that. I also loved that they communicated and set times and dates and confirmed. So far so good. We will see if problem is resolved."

"Doggone Dry did a wonderful job waterproofing my basement and installing a sump pump. Josh explained everything that needed to be done and exceeded those expectations when completing the job. They were very professional and got the job done in a timely manner. They also took the time to make sure my basement looked better and cleaner than it was before they came. I am very pleased with their services."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

The most common cause of a clogged sump pump is natural debris buildup. As water enters the sump pit, it can carry small pieces of debris that build up over time, or the debris can get caught in the filter. If you forget to cover the pit after cleaning the sump pump and pit, debris can also collect in the pit. Corrosion on the metal discharge pipe can also clog the pump. Additionally, if your pipes freeze, it can prevent water from draining properly and cause a clog.

The difference between an ejector pump and a sump pump lies in their purpose and design—an ejector pump functions to remove liquid gray water and soft solid sewage waste from your home. If you have a laundry room or bathroom in your basement, an ejector pump for your sewage tank prevents sewage from backing up in your washing machine or bathroom’s drains.

A sump pump is designed to remove excess groundwater that may enter your home, either due to flooding or periods of heavy rain.

In most cases, standard homeowners insurance policies do not cover damage from a sump pump failure or overflow. Coverage for water damage is often limited to sudden, unexpected events like a burst pipe that was not caused by negligence. To be covered for sump pump issues, you will likely need to purchase a specific rider, endorsement, or additional water backup insurance. If your insurer offers this type of coverage, they may require proof that your sump pump is regularly maintained.

Yes, it’s normal (and beneficial) to have a small amount of water in the bottom of your sump pit. It shows that your system is collecting groundwater, rain, and excess water from around your property—just like it’s supposed to. However, if the sump pit is always full, you might have a leak or a faulty sump pump.

3/4 HP is stronger than 1/2 HP. Horsepower measures how much weight can be moved and how fast, or the power needed to move 550 pounds one foot in one second. 1 HP equals 550 foot-pounds per second, so the higher the horsepower, the heavier the load it can lift. While 1/2 HP is a standard, powerful option, 3/4 HP has the extra strength to handle heavier, larger doors with ease.
