"Wanted to keep up with the new consumer trend of doorbell cameras. Got one for our front door and motion sensors for our main rooms inside. No extra fees or anything weird like that. Straightforward and honest process with this ADT dealer partner."

"We own a small family operated jewelry store and decided to get ADT for protection and surveillance. Prior, we just had Ring and it was not sufficient or reliable. This has clearer cameras and a much better app experience. Happy with our new system and equipment."

"We hired Martin Wall of CMC Electric, LLC to install pendant lights over our kitchen island and to install a new outlet in our patio. Martin is professional, personable, timely, and thorough in every detail of his work. He made sure that the lights were positioned to our satisfaction. He is top notch and I highly recommend both CMC Electric and Martin. The CMC telephone staff are excellent to deal with by phone. CMC sends reminders by text and invoices by email. My wife and I trust CMC Electric for all of our electrical needs and highly recommend the company."

"Work was done quickly and efficiently. Tech explained the additional cost required and asked me if I wanted him to still do the job. He clearly explained that additional charge and gave me chance to not have the work done. I should have said no that 93.00 additional to install that cover would negate any savings that this deal had offered. That is one hundred percent on me that I allowed job to go forward when I did not feel that high of an additional charge was at all justified. On the spot, I made the wrong decision to agree to pay 93.00 for 5.00 cover part and labor to put it around the spot. Additional time to put in that guard was minimal. Again, this is not to blame the tech as I foolishly agreed to it being done. Also, he came back up to the door to check with me about how he had directed the light bulbs. Tech took old light (with my old bulbs), I wish I had thought to ask that he leave it for me. Usually, workers leave the old parts by our trash cans. All in all, very professional install job but wound up paying almost double what I thought in order for spot to get installed due to needing exterior ring."

"Juan R did a great job with our installation of a dog door. Our door had a small issue due to the design, but he went out of his way to fix the problem and get the job done. Super efficient and friendly guy."

"Hugo and team did a fabulous job on the outdoor storage area in our carport. We had a series of 8 hinged doors that were falling apart; he ended up building four sturdy, wide doors to replace them -- at a much lower cost than purchasing and installing store-bought exterior doors. The quality and detailing are excellent, and we couldn't be happier with how the space looks and functions now."

The average cost of a home security system is about $700, ranging from $280 to $1,150. Costs to consider include equipment, surveillance fees, and other additional features. Cost factors that determine your system’s price include the type of security system, materials, labor, activation fees, monthly fees, and permits. Additional features and upgrades may include:
Video surveillance monitoring: $40–$65 per month
Smart home locks: $150
Smart home lighting: $15–$90
Smart smoke, fire, and carbon monoxide alarms: $35–$100
Smart thermostat: $130–$500
It’s important to ask an electrician a few questions before you commit to hiring them so you can make an informed decision as a consumer. If you’re getting estimates or considering hiring an electrician, ask them these questions:
Are you a full-time electrician?
Are you bonded, licensed, and insured?
What level of experience do you have as an electrician?
Can you please share three references?
Do you do residential or commercial electrical work?
What kinds of electrical work are you most familiar with?
Will any subcontractors be performing the work?
Are permits and inspections required?
Who is responsible for obtaining permits and inspections?
What is your schedule?
Do you offer a guarantee or warranty on your work?
Will you sign a do-not-exceed clause to keep the job within the budget?
Yes, you should get a quote or an estimate from an electrician. Most electricians offer free estimates or quotes. When getting quotes, do your research and verify each electrician’s license. Get quotes from three different electricians to compare. If the prices or items listed appear different on the quotes, ask the electrician to clarify. Learning as much as you can about the electrical work you want done will help you get the most accurate estimate.
Yes, a home security system can be worth it for your peace of mind alone, but it can also save you up to 20% on your home insurance. The insurance savings will help defray the initial setup costs and subscription costs over time. Locations with higher crime rates also make home security systems a valuable investment, but it ultimately depends on your personal preferences and asset values.
Qualified, licensed electricians will charge from $50 to $100 per hour. The cost to hire an electrician for emergency visits may range from $100 to $200 per hour because this urgent service usually takes place during off hours and may require an electrician to leave or reschedule jobs they’re currently working on. Scheduling work on holidays or during periods of high customer demand, like after a major storm, will also lead to higher rates or extra fees.
