"I first hired Amazing Finishes, LLC sometime last year to fix a exterior door that wouldn't close (of the 6 places that I called, Rick was the only one who was able to appear the same day). Rick showed up within an hour (good luck there, I think) and fixed it quickly at a very good price. Since then, Rick and Company have been my first choice for Home Improvement projects. The next project was to rework my rear deck and steps, after the other guy messed up. Rick and Mark fixed it to my original specs. Then, I had some remodeling done, in which I needed to have 5 sinks sealed, dropped in and and the plumbing hooked up, including new faucets; Amazing Finishes came in at a far lower price than what the recommended plumber (not through HA) would have charged me. They also resealed a window for me at a great price! And, my most recent multi-project was replacing a valve in the shower (required in-wall access), installing a shower to hose diverter, repairing 4 areas on the ceiling and installing a new J-Box in a bedroom at a great price! GREAT JOB, Rick and Mark!"

"Sergiy and his crew are great! I am remodeling my kitchen and they completed a handful of projects for me. They care about their work quality and are very professional. Sergiy was transparent with what work was being done and the associated costs. I would highly recommend Sergiy and his team!"

"Needed fencing installed to keep groundhogs from taking up residence under our deck. Brady came up with a creative and complete solution that made sure the varmints were out and would not return. Would use again."

Holiday Decorating questions, answered by experts

A blinking, or twinkle, bulb makes Christmas lights blink. Usually, this type of bulb has a silver or red tip, making it easily distinguishable from other non-blinking bulbs. Most packages of Christmas lights come with additional blinking and non-blinking bulbs. Additional bulbs can be purchased at a hardware store or online retailer.

The easiest way to hang Christmas lights on your roof is to attach them to your gutters, but there are plenty of user-friendly methods to try. You can use light clips to easily hook Christmas lights to your shingles, eaves, gutters, or soffit. However, using a telescoping pole is a surefire way to ensure your safety while hanging Christmas lights because it doesn’t require using a ladder or climbing onto the roof.

You can take a few steps to prolong the life of your holiday lights. Make sure to replace burnt-out bulbs as quickly as possible to avoid overloading the rest of the circuit and knocking out more lights. Before packing them up each year, plug each strand into the wall to confirm everything is still working. Wrap the lights carefully back into their original packaging or something similar—winding a strand tightly together or leaving it to hang loose in a storage bin can lead to frayed or damaged wiring.

Several options for hanging Christmas lights won't damage gutters. Using shingle clips avoids any hardware contact with them, and using plastic gutter clips minimizes the likelihood of scratching gutters. Remember not to rest a ladder, especially a metal one, against the gutters, and use a ladder stand-off device or stabilizer if you need to use an extension ladder.

There are many types of Christmas lights to choose from when working with a light installer. The main types available for outdoor lighting are dome, LED, incandescent, and C9, and your lighting professional’s choice will depend on the location and overall design.

C9 lighting is typically the most expensive option, ranging from $15 to $70 per 25-foot strand. These usually have fewer bulbs per strand, so you might need more than expected to cover a large area. Dome lighting is usually the most cost-effective option, ranging from $6 to $15 per 25-foot strand. These bulbs are smaller and rounder than other options, creating a softer look.
