What is the Garage Attic? It's the second floor you need in your garage!\n\nI've noticed that most garages have unusually high ceilings because they're built on crawl spaces. The remedy for this is the Garage Attic. I frame massive storage lofts above the garage door tracks that can add up to 300 square feet of storage space to your garage. On some projects I've been able to frame a staircase to the new loft from the existing platform to the house, on some I've installed drop down stairs and on others the homeowner uses a ladder to access the loft.\n\nEvery garage is different and if the garage has enough depth I'll simply build custom shelves on the back wall using cabinet grade plywood. The goal is to get your car into the garage where it belongs and to be able to walk around it.

I bring years of hands-on experience managing trades and remodeling homes, with a focus on\nreliability, clear communication, and quality results. I’ve overseen projects ranging from small\nrepairs to full renovations, coordinating electricians, plumbers, carpenters, painters, and other\nskilled trades to keep projects on schedule and done right the first time. My strength is organization\nand follow-through. I show up when I say I will, communicate clearly, and treat every home with\nrespect. Remodeling can be stressful, especially when surprises come up, but I approach each\nproject with transparency and problem-solving in mind. When challenges arise, I explain options\nclearly and help homeowners make informed decisions. I understand how disruptive construction\ncan be, so I work cleanly, stay involved from start to finish, and make sure expectations are aligned.\nMy goal is simple: deliver professional results while making the process as smooth and stress-free\nas possible. The cost to paint a garage door is usually $1 to $4 per square foot, which translates to around $120 to $500 for the average two-car garage door. This relatively low-cost painting project can greatly impact your home’s look and curb appeal, and you can save a good deal of money by doing it yourself.

Hiring the right professional to build your garage can be easy if you know where to look. Feel free to ask neighbors or friends for recommendations. If that doesn’t work, platforms like Angi can help you connect with trusted professionals in your area. You can read reviews, compare quotes, and view past projects. Research and interviewing multiple pros goes a long way in making sure you get the garage you want.

If your cement garage floor is sinking and cracking, your first step should be to call a local structural engineer to assess the problem. They can determine if it’s a minor amount of sinking related to normal settlement or if the issue is structural in nature. If you do have structural damage, the engineer or a foundation repair company that you hire will come up with a plan to fix the issue, which often consists of mudjacking for less severe issues or underpinning for more extensive problems.

No, there should not be a gap between your garage door and the floor. Gaps can make your garage less energy efficient, leading to higher energy bills. They also create an entry point for pests like rodents and insects, as well as rain and melted snow, which can lead to foundation damage or mold issues.

If you have a gap under your garage door, potential causes include an uneven garage floor or worn-out weather stripping. To fix it, you can try several solutions:

  • Replace the weather stripping: The seal at the bottom of the door may need to be replaced.

  • Adjust the garage door: You may be able to adjust the closing position on your garage door opener to eliminate the gap.

  • Inspect the floor: If the concrete floor has shifted or is uneven, it may need to be repaired to create a level surface.

If these solutions do not resolve the issue, it is best to call a garage door repair specialist to inspect the door and floor.

The best method for painting a garage door depends on the door's design and the finish you want to achieve. For the most professional-looking finish, especially on doors with panels or intricate details, a paint sprayer is an excellent choice. It can easily get into hard-to-reach places and provide a smooth, even coat.

If you don't have a sprayer, or if your door is flat, a combination of a roller and a brush is the most effective approach. Use a roller for the large, flat sections to cover the area quickly and efficiently. For the best results, experts recommend a roller with a nap between ⅜ and ¾ inches thick; natural fibers can also help ensure an even coat.

A brush is essential for handling the finer details. Use it to paint grooves, angles, small panels, and the edges of the door where you need more control.

Regardless of the tools you use, it's a good idea to step back after the main application to review your work and use a detail brush to touch up any missed spots.
