What is the Garage Attic? It's the second floor you need in your garage!\n\nI've noticed that most garages have unusually high ceilings because they're built on crawl spaces. The remedy for this is the Garage Attic. I frame massive storage lofts above the garage door tracks that can add up to 300 square feet of storage space to your garage. On some projects I've been able to frame a staircase to the new loft from the existing platform to the house, on some I've installed drop down stairs and on others the homeowner uses a ladder to access the loft.\n\nEvery garage is different and if the garage has enough depth I'll simply build custom shelves on the back wall using cabinet grade plywood. The goal is to get your car into the garage where it belongs and to be able to walk around it.

"I am extremely pleased with the service provided by Triple Clean! In 1986, the HVAC system of this house was constructed with a black-fiber-lined material and now it blows a layer of "black dust" on all household surfaces. My baseboards are finally white again and the material that collects along the carpet edges is gone. I will definitely use Triple Clean again and give my highest recommendation to this service."

Small jobs welcome

"I had a great experience working with Alicia. She really helped me reorganize my closets and bedroom entirely. It feels so good to get rid of the clutter and know exactly where all my stuff is. Itâ s like a brand new room. The best part is I feel I can keep it organized now because of how she redid it!!"

Garage Cleaning Services questions, answered by experts

Hearing or feeling vibrations in your house can be unsettling, but there are a few possible causes for a vibrating noise in your wall or floor. Light bulbs and fixtures, circuit breakers, loose pipes, or faulty wiring could all cause vibrations. If you’re not sure what’s causing the vibrations, you can call a contractor to assess your home and narrow down the cause.

It’s possible to use a torch to melt ice on your garage door, but we don’t recommend it. It’s very easy to bring the flame too close to the door, which can melt the weather stripping or even the garage door itself. You’ll melt ice quickly with a torch, but the damage you’re likely to cause can end up costing you a few hundred dollars to fix, which isn’t worth it. Instead, we recommend pouring hot water over the frozen area or using a less intense heat source, like a hair dryer or space heater.

While you can technically use WD-40 to lube a garage door, it is not the best option since the oil it leaves behind can attract dirt. Instead, go to the hardware store and locate a lithium- or silicone- based garage grease. You can also search for garage door lubricant online; just make sure you get one that is made with lithium or silicone.

You should spray garage door lubricant on its important mechanical parts, including the hinges, rollers, springs, bearing plates, lock, armbar, and, potentially, rail. Do not lube the tracks, though you should clean these regularly for optimal performance.

We recommend hiring a garage door professional to install a garage door opener for you. Garage door openers aren’t terribly complex, but setting them up properly, setting the lift and drop speed, and installing sensors that work correctly can take a few hours for a DIYer. The cost to install a garage door opener is around $400, and it will save you a lot of time and frustration. Garage professionals have the skills and equipment necessary to work with potentially dangerous garage door components, like springs.
