What is the Garage Attic? It's the second floor you need in your garage!\n\nI've noticed that most garages have unusually high ceilings because they're built on crawl spaces. The remedy for this is the Garage Attic. I frame massive storage lofts above the garage door tracks that can add up to 300 square feet of storage space to your garage. On some projects I've been able to frame a staircase to the new loft from the existing platform to the house, on some I've installed drop down stairs and on others the homeowner uses a ladder to access the loft.\n\nEvery garage is different and if the garage has enough depth I'll simply build custom shelves on the back wall using cabinet grade plywood. The goal is to get your car into the garage where it belongs and to be able to walk around it.

I bring years of hands-on experience managing trades and remodeling homes, with a focus on\nreliability, clear communication, and quality results. I’ve overseen projects ranging from small\nrepairs to full renovations, coordinating electricians, plumbers, carpenters, painters, and other\nskilled trades to keep projects on schedule and done right the first time. My strength is organization\nand follow-through. I show up when I say I will, communicate clearly, and treat every home with\nrespect. Remodeling can be stressful, especially when surprises come up, but I approach each\nproject with transparency and problem-solving in mind. When challenges arise, I explain options\nclearly and help homeowners make informed decisions. I understand how disruptive construction\ncan be, so I work cleanly, stay involved from start to finish, and make sure expectations are aligned.\nMy goal is simple: deliver professional results while making the process as smooth and stress-free\nas possible. Garage Cleaning Services questions, answered by experts

Wood, steel, fiberglass, and aluminum are among the top building materials for a garage. Wood is highly customizable, naturally insulative, and durable in mild climates but can be expensive. Steel is lightweight, low-maintenance, and cost-effective, but it’s susceptible to rust. Fiberglass is low-maintenance and doesn’t shrink or expand in changing temperatures, but it can become brittle and crack from prolonged high winds and sun exposure.

Unlike steel, aluminum isn’t susceptible to rust and is low-maintenance, but its ultra-light weight makes it less durable than some materials, and it’s susceptible to saltwater damage, making it a poor choice for coastal homes.

The most affordable way to insulate a garage involves choosing cost-effective materials like fiberglass, which comes in batts or rolls and is relatively easy to install. You can often install this type of insulation without needing to add drywall, which helps reduce costs. While a DIY approach might seem cheapest, hiring a professional installer can be highly cost-effective. Experts can accurately determine your garage's specific insulation needs and ensure the best results for your investment, often using batt insulation for the bulk of the project.

If you enjoy tinkering with cars, woodworking, or exercising in your garage, then a garage heater may be worth it to you. If your garage is used mainly for storage, you may opt to skip installing a garage heater. If you live somewhere with favorable weather year-round, you can probably go without one as well. But for most homeowners, a garage heater is a good investment and makes the garage a more comfortable place to spend time.

Yes, professionals offer design services that ensure cohesive appearances.

When you’re painting a garage floor, it’s best to use a combination of rollers and brushes. You’ll want to start with a brush, making a border around the edges where the floor meets the wall. From there you can use a roller, though some people also like to do the entire first coat with a brush because it’s easier to work the paint into the textured concrete.
