No—if you complete a full coat of paint, including painting techniques like cutting in and rolling, you could wait weeks or months between coats if you wanted. For best results, sand the first coat and clean the wall before applying the second.

Baseboard heater colors are subjective to the person painting them. Typically, baseboard heaters and trim are white, but it’s not to everyone’s taste. Lighter shades like gray and beige also work and offer contrast. If you want to hide them, paint your baseboard heater covers to match the walls so they simply blend in.

Black paint absorbs light, so using black paint will cause your room to look darker overall. In addition to reducing ambient light, black paint can make your space feel smaller because it hides depth and contours. The other major drawback is that black paint is harder to paint over with a lighter color. You’ll need to fully prime your wall with a good quality primer and use at least two coats of paint to get back to a lighter color after it’s been painted black.

While your painters may have a certain price point in mind based on the materials and labor they estimate it will take to paint your house, it may be possible to negotiate with contractors, especially if you have multiple quotes to use as leverage.
