"This is the second time I have used Ruben and his crew. They are the best! Not just the work but the prices too! They are also very kind, after one of my trees were cut the foreman notice the stump had an "Owl" formation and instead of hauling asked me if I wanted to keep it. It was perfect because I teach. :-) they even set up for me in yard. they will never take advantage of you."

"Showed up as promised at 7:59 am.. even a bit early. Ready to go immediately on arrival. Courteous. Efficient. Fast. Excellent communication with home owner/work team.. they asked what I wanted and how i would prefer the work be done, if possible. Climbed the tree and began limbing/trimming process immediately even though it was raining at the time. Sergio is a brave-agile-fearless-talented young man with squirrel-like balance and climbing capabilities. They cleaned up and piled brush even though I had not expected that. Rodolfio and Frank both hard workers and great team members and Rodolfio is a good team leader. Have already recommended them to friends and would definitely re-hire for future needs."

"Superior prompt service! Honest pricing we paid about what we expected and the work was excellent. Work was done on same day that we called and cleanup was so good with nothing left on ground. I would highly recommend Caleb Surrett and Surrett Tree Service and will use them again."

"I couldn’t be happier with the tree removal service we received from San's Tree Service. From start to finish, the team was professional, punctual, and incredibly efficient. They handled everything safely and with great care, including cleanup—our yard looked better afterward than it did before! Their communication was clear, pricing was fair, and the entire process was stress-free. Highly recommend this company to anyone needing tree removal or cleanup. Outstanding work!"

"Holly Forest Tree Service did a large project for me to include trimming out trees so they would not hit the house in one of these high-wind storms, thinning out two huge monkey pine trees, trimming bushes, removing a small tree, and removing a huge old walnut tree. The reason for removing the walnut tree was it was starting to rot in the middle and I was afraid it would fall onto the small one-way bridge located right next to it and cause severe damage. This bridge is the only ingress and egress for several homes in the neighborhood and having the bridge out of service for even one day would be a nightmare for a lot of people. The workers did not mess around and they worked from the time they got here until the time they left (with a short lunch period). I never saw them sitting idly by or stopping to chat or talk on their cell phone. They have a strong work ethic and did an exemplary clean up job. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for tree service."

"Ben and his crew cut down 6 trees for me at a reasonable price. They did it quickly and cleaned up well afterwards. Ben was also very knowledgeable about trees and took the time to look at a couple that I was concerned about. He didn't push to cut them down, only gave me factual information, which made me trust him even more. I highly recommend Ben and his crew and would not hesitate to use them again."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Burning a tree stump can be effective, but it comes with safety considerations and isn’t always best for every situation. It's essential to check local regulations and assess the safety risks involved. Stumps that are near wooden structures or other non-moveable flammable objects aren’t good candidates for burning due to the risk of the fire spreading. Alternatives like grinding or a DIY stump rotting project might be safer and quicker for getting the job done.

Opt for a barefoot tree. Pros harvest barefoot trees when they’re dormant (leafless). They shake the dirt from the root ball and pack it in moist material.

These trees can cost half as much as the trees at your local nursery, and you can buy them online—so there’s a much wider selection. Just make sure you keep your barefoot tree cool until you’re ready to plant it.

Not every arborist climbs trees, but most will do so if that’s the best method for assessing or treating a tree. Arborists have a variety of tree climbing gear and safety equipment to choose from when climbing trees. Consult your local arborist about their tree-climbing plan if your service requires that type of task.

Depending on the severity of the damage, a tree might continue healing for years after a split or a break. Saplings can usually bounce back in the spring in one or two seasons, but larger trees might take a few years to regain their former strength. If your tree is showing strong growth and is not dropping limbs, you can consider it healed after the first two seasons.

There are several methods to hollow out a tree stump, and the best one depends on your tools, experience, and priorities. Common methods include using a chisel and hammer, a chainsaw, or burning.

  • Chisel and Hammer: This is often considered the easiest approach for those with limited tools or experience, though it is the most time-consuming.

  • Chainsaw: Using a chainsaw is the fastest method, but it comes with significant safety risks, especially for inexperienced users.

  • Burning: This can be an effective method, but it is not recommended unless you can first drill holes into the stump. Without holes, the stump will be difficult to light and may not burn completely through.

A power drill with at least a ⅜-inch diameter bit can make the job quicker and easier, regardless of the primary method. While you can use a chisel or chainsaw without a drill, it will require more time and effort. Always wear protective goggles and thick gloves, as splinters are an inevitable risk.
