Customers say: True professional

"Holly Forest Tree Service did a large project for me to include trimming out trees so they would not hit the house in one of these high-wind storms, thinning out two huge monkey pine trees, trimming bushes, removing a small tree, and removing a huge old walnut tree. The reason for removing the walnut tree was it was starting to rot in the middle and I was afraid it would fall onto the small one-way bridge located right next to it and cause severe damage. This bridge is the only ingress and egress for several homes in the neighborhood and having the bridge out of service for even one day would be a nightmare for a lot of people. The workers did not mess around and they worked from the time they got here until the time they left (with a short lunch period). I never saw them sitting idly by or stopping to chat or talk on their cell phone. They have a strong work ethic and did an exemplary clean up job. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for tree service."

"Martin and his brother showed up on Thursday ready to work. I was so impressed with the both of them as they never waivered from the job at hand. The yard is totally cleared and the dirt leveled by the end of day, I would highly recommend Martin grass and Decks LLC for your projects. This is a phone number I will not lose."

"Wasn't sure about how to remove trees but he got it done. Was quick, professional and reasonably priced. Had him take two additional trees while on site. Will definitely has come back again, probably after spring storms."

"I hired Capps Excavation to cut in a new driveway and he did an amazing job. Took down a few big trees that were in the way and that didn't phase them at all. It was on a pretty step slope and they handled it like it was nothing. I wouldn't think twice about hiring them again or recommending them to someone for any excavation, landscaping or tree work!"

"Summit Land Development and Scott Lewis did an excellent job on our fill and grading project despite having a couple of challenges with local providers of fill. What was key was excellent communication and always having an option available to stay on schedule and budget. I would highly recommend Scott and his crew without any reservations. If you have a challenging project and need a skilled team then Summit Land Development is your team!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

How often and long you should water a tree depends on the species and if it is mature or newly planted. The amount of water is also based on the tree's size. A good rule of thumb is approximately 5 gallons per inch of the trunk's diameter.

Adjusting watering to the recommended suggestions for the tree type and weather conditions is vital. For instance, watering trees during a drought is necessary, and you may need to water more frequently than usual.

Dutch elm disease can’t harm humans. In fact, according to Cal Fire, bark beetles aren’t even typically dangerous to trees unless that tree is already weakened. The problem comes when Dutch elm disease kills a tree. That tree is more at risk of falling and catching fire, which can pose a serious threat.

Yes, forestry mulching can grind stumps, but the level of effectiveness depends on the equipment used. Drum mulchers can break down smaller stumps, but larger or deep-rooted stumps may require a dedicated stump grinder for complete removal. If full stump removal is necessary for replanting or construction, additional excavation may be needed. Always check with your forestry mulching provider to confirm whether they offer stump grinding and if their equipment is suitable for your specific needs.

A tree branch should start to form roots in about three months. It can take about a year for a tree branch to develop roots strong enough to go in the ground. For best results, start several branches because, no matter how closely you follow instructions, they won’t all form roots. Compost any that aren’t thriving.

The best time to trim trees is in late fall through winter when the tree has slowed its growing for the year. Cold weather stops insects and fungal growth from attacking a new tree wound. Summer and fall are considered the worst times to trim trees, but it’s permissible in certain scenarios, such as tree disease, damaged branches, or small, aesthetic cuts.
