"Hired this company to correct a boggy area in my horse pasture. They installed drains and gravel. After 2 months there is still no change in the wet area. Not only that, the area is actually worse as all the ground is churned up and there is gravel everywhere. The pasture is complexly unusable. He also left deep ruts in my pasture and front lawn from his equipment and rocks everywhere! I spent days cleaning up. I have asked for my money back as I now have to hire another company to fix everything he did wrong and redo the entire project, but he refuses. The owner of this company is 16 years old, which I did not know when I hired him. He has equipment and some knowledge but not enough for complex jobs, and does not have the professionalism to start by his work."

An asphalt driveway should be at least 3 inches thick over a compacted gravel base. Areas with poor drainage should have a thicker stone base. To install a new asphalt driveway over an existing driveway, the new asphalt should be at least 2 inches thick and the existing driveway should be in relatively good condition.

After removing existing moss, consider using paver blocking sand to fill the joints. This specialty material hardens once placed and serves as an effective barrier against moss and weeds. Chip seal layers gravel and a liquid bitumen one at a time on-site, while asphalt directly pours a pre-combined mixture. Asphalt must be sealed, but it will last up to four times as long as chip seal driveways. Aesthetically, chip seal has a natural, rustic look compared to the traditional asphalt slab.

Although you could try to lay stepping stones directly over grass, which speeds up the installation process significantly, this method often leads to a poor result over time. Even heavy paver stones will eventually slide or shift on top of the grass. Digging into the ground and following the steps we listed is the best way to lay stepping stones for a long-lasting result.
