I have used him for several things. I had my driveway graded after I purchased the home. He brought the gravel and did some grading and had my driveway looking amazing. He also handles all my lawn care and landscaping. He does an excellent job and highly recommend him for any and all. He has also been hired for excavating work on my property. My property always looks amazing!

The entire lawn was done with a string trimmer and done poorly. Grass height ranged from 2" to 4" and some areas not touched. So much for an Angie Coupon. Buyer beware.
Response from Rawlins Lawn & Landscape
"Hi we showed up to cut this persons grass we did not cut the entire yard with a string trimmer we mowed the front yard with a walk behind lawn mower yes at 3.5 inches home owner did not disclose how short they wanted it. The home owner also did not disclose that there was a fenced in back yard which we could not get a lawn mower into, so yes we had to use a string trimmer on the back yard which was a steep bank. The Howe owner contacted me about the job we had done and as they stated they weren't satisfied with our job so I offered them a full refund."

Well....first I heard nothing from them; next, I was told they were very busy but they would get to me ASAP. Then they called and said they were 5-10 min. or less away from our house & wanted to do the work now. I had told them we wanted to be notified before they came so we could be there when they worked. So we were on our way out when they arrived and when we got back they were through. Did not get to direct any particular areas where I would have liked weeding at the edge of but beyond the formal beds as you enter the driveway. They did good work but I was disappointed not to get a couple problem areas addressed. I got the feeling they had been a bit overwhelmed by the volume of responses they got from Angie's List.

The guys were quite nice but didn't offer much in the way of design. Their suggestions were to move some of the shrubs around, remove the grass and mulch the areas not covered with paving stones. They were here the week of April 10th. I expected to get some sketches and an estimate by email. So far I have heard nothing from them. Because it was the week before Easter I didn't expect an immediate response but really should have heard from them by now. I think they mainly do lawn mowing and maybe shrub trimming rather than garden design so I'm a little disappointed and will seek help elsewhere.

Mr. Rawlins was very nice and polite but stated he could not provide the landscaping design plan. He stated that he was not equipped to provide that service and that eh was puzzled by Angie's Lists promotion of that service from his company.
Response from Rawlins Lawn & Landscape
"Mr [Member Name Removed] I do apologize for not being able to provide a blue print drawing of your landscape I have discussed this issue with Angie's list and are in the process of marking the necessary changes. As for our meeting together we went over a few different options and landscape design for your property. Again I do apologize if we can do anything for you just let me know"

Not terribly well! I think Chris was the guy?s name. They came out and looked. We explained to them what we needed, which was for two areas to be prepared for blubs and mulch. We had mulch, mushroom composite and stuff. I wanted them prepared so I could plant bulbs. Chris was going out of town for the weekend and was not going to show up. Why would we pay one guy $200 & he wasn?t even that experienced. The first think he did that got me concerned was, he was standing in the dead leaves in the woods, smoking.

I told him he could here, you could smoke there, but you cannot smoke in the woods. I think he pinched off the end of his cigarette and put it in his pocket. So, he finished what he was doing right there, which was moving a tree that I had pruned and wanted to get out of the area I wanted to put bulbs in. The bottom line was, he was not a happy camper. He was happiest to the blower. I was using a mattock, so he could use the garden rake and shovel, but he wanted my mattock.

But, when he got my mattock, he realized he didn?t like that either. He did not disturb all the ground that I wanted him to disturb in order to put down mushroom composite and mulch. He did put down mushroom composite in one place and mulch. That was early on, but then he got into the larger area and there was not going to be enough mulch to cover it. So I told him to just do that. He was on his cell phone, had his girlfriend in the truck, they went to lunch and he was complaining about how much money he was getting from Chris.

My husband felt sorry for him and wanted to let him go early. I said, ?you just do not that!? So, I had him blow the leaves and acorns off of an area. He ended up finishing like 15 minutes early or something. I said, ?ok, ok!? But, $200 for that! No! I just said the heck with it! Also I wanted them to do this, because I was under the impression that my husband?s was so bad, that I did not want him lifting the mulch bags and carrying them around. Well, he ended up doing that for this guy, he picked up all the mulch bags, carried them up a short flight of stairs and laid them.

I was pretty fried, because this guy was like in his 20?s and my husband is 68. But that was his choice, he thought he was doing good. As far as I am concerned the guy was not used to doing anything like that, blowing leaves away, sure. But, looking the price to be prepared for bulbs, no!
He was there on time, but he was with his girlfriend, on the phone and taking a 20 minute lunch.

I searched Angie's List for a local landscape company resulting in a call to Rawlins Lawn & Landscape. Chris Rawlins (owner) arrived and provided two estimates detailing two methods for removing the bush. He stated that if he was unable to pull the bush out with his truck he would have to get a piece of equipment that has a bucket capable of digging the root balls out of the ground. Pulling with truck and chain didn't work so he brought in the heavy equipment and was successful. The remaining holes were back filled with top soil, graded, and seeded.
