"Haven’t had work done but estimate was done. All very efficient. I decided to hire them because the roofing folks I talked to didn’t seem to be used to doing skylights. Sun4Light only does skylights."

"David called to say they'd be at my house at the previously agree to 10:30 a:m. At 10:28 they were pulling up out front.. Impressive! They assessed the damage and got straight to work putting down the protective underlayment...followed by new shingles. The guys also took time to explain what materials they were using and why. They also replaced a few shingles at the rear of the house, which had been quick sealed from a satellite dish removal. I am very happy with the results of the work and the cost. I would hire them again."

"Nahun did a fabulous job. I called him, and he came out that day and sized it on site, ordered everything and communicated while it was on back order. He came out early and fixed it early. I got a great window for a great price."

Skylights questions, answered by experts

The most popular treatment for a skylight is skylight shades. There are five primary types: manual, motorized, blackout, cellular//honeycomb, and Venetian. Motorized skylight shades are the most convenient, especially for skylights that are higher up, but manual shades are the most cost-effective treatments. Cellular/honeycomb shades are a perfect option for anyone who wants energy efficiency and an attractive look.

The decision to remove a skylight depends on your specific circumstances and preferences. There are several reasons why you might consider removing a skylight, such as extensive damage, a desire for better insulation, or the need to change the room's layout. Additionally, if the skylight is causing leaks or other issues, it may be necessary to remove and replace it (which can incur additional skylight installation costs). It's important to assess your specific situation and consult with professionals if needed to make an informed decision.

This is based on personal preference, budget, and the vibe you are going for with your holiday lighting. If you are looking for the cheapest option, incandescent lights are a budget-friendly choice. You can also opt for sheets of lights that cover areas such as trees and bushes for easier installation.

Yes, you can install skylights on an existing roof, and it’s a common service that many homeowners opt for, especially on older homes built when skylights weren’t as prevalent. The installation process will be a bit more involved, and the design and planning process will take longer, meaning you’ll pay more to install a skylight on an existing roof than you would in new construction. The process involves cutting a hole in the roof, moving rafters, if necessary, and installing and sealing around the skylight.

Skylights might sometimes increase your homeowners insurance premium, but the increase is usually minimal. Some home insurance companies won’t adjust your premium with the addition of a skylight, so you can contact your insurer or your professional skylight installer to ask about any expected changes. It’s crucial to have an expert install the skylight, as insurance companies may not insure your roof or cover water damage that results from a non-professional skylight installation.
