"Came home from out of town for a week to NO HEAT in house. Immediately started making calls trying to find someone to make a service call. All we could do was leave messages. First person called us back couldn’t come out for until next week. We like to use local businesses, and remembered seeing the BUSTLE HEATING and COOLING truck parked at the house near where we live. So we left them a message too. Within 30 minutes we received a callback. They were sorry they couldn’t get to us that day, but put us on the schedule for the next day (today)! They called at 8am and were here shortly thereafter. The Service Techs were very knowledgeable, professional and friendly. A leaking well pipe is quite different from if the well itself is leaking. To seal a leaking well, pour a cement mixture or bentonite into the space between the well casing and the borehole wall. The heavier cement collects at the bottom to form a solid seal, pushing lighter materials like mud and fluids up toward the surface. Professional well installation companies have the equipment to do this properly. 

You should have your well inspected once per year. You should also have a well inspection done when you’re buying a house with a private well, when the well cap is opened, when the septic tank is repaired, or when there is flooding.

During your annual visit, a pro will make sure that everything is working correctly and check for certain contaminants, including total coliform. Every other year, they’ll look for things like metals and nitrates, and every five years, they’ll test for pesticides.

The precharged pressure tank should start at around 28 psi. The two pressure settings of note are the cut-in and cut-out pressure. The well pump starts when the tank reaches the minimum cut-in pressure. It turns off when the tank reaches the maximum cut-out pressure. The desired water pressure in the household is usually a few psi above the cut-in number. The difference between the cut-in and cut-out pressure settings should be 20 psi. Typical settings for household applications include 20/40, 30/50, and 40/60.
