Customers say: Quality work

"Bobby responded promptly to my initial email and was easily reachable despite being a busy business owner. He explained the materials and process and was personally on site every day of the project. We had 400 square feet of patio to put in. He and his small team were finished, with all their equipment policed up, in less than 4 days; that included a short rain delay."

"Bill Orr was awesome. I would recommend not getting your driveway done without at least getting a quote from him as well. We have 160 feet of driveway and about 75 feet of sidewalk that he replaced. We had some sunken and cracked concrete at the end of the driveway that he replaced and it looks beautiful. He got the job done in a timely fashion and was very responsive to any concerns we might’ve had. A few minor issues were quickly corrected. Besides all that his quote was 20% to 40% cheaper than anyone else who quoted us! In fact, his prices are so good. I had another neighbor worry that there must be something wrong, but I can assure he does quality work. He’s just no office, no frills with low overhead that benefits the customer. He has already been hired by two other neighbors that saw the completed work and one got a separate quote that was almost twice as much!"

"The work was done at my house and he did the driveway and a pad in the back yard. The work was outstanding and Mr. Golden explained was he was going to do and also said that he would be back to look at the work area and to let the concrete cure for 5 days before driving on the addition of the driveway and also the concrete pad in the back yard."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

The answer to whether or not you need to get a permit before you start your driveway can vary widely based on local ordinances and the scope of your driveway ideas. In most urban and suburban areas, a permit is needed before building a new driveway to ensure that a homeowner is using safe materials and proper drainage practices while designing and constructing a new driveway. In some rural areas, a homeowner may not be required to apply for a permit. When building a new driveway on your own, always check with your local building department to see if you need to request a permit. When hiring a driveway contractor, verify that the right permits are being used before driveway construction begins.

The average cost of 1,500 square feet of asphalt ranges from about $10,500 to $22,500, depending on location, thickness, base material, and how accessible the job site is to crews and equipment. Keep in mind that your asphalt material cost may vary depending on its type, ranging from porous asphalt to heated blacktop. Standard asphalt costs $7 to $13 per square foot.

Overall, a paver driveway is considered the easiest to maintain because homeowners are able to do driveway repair one piece at a time without impacting the rest of the driveway. Unlike paved options, paver driveways contain individual stones that aren't physically connected. By comparison, you may need to reseal or redo a full asphalt driveway if just one portion sustains a significant crack.

The choice between asphalt and concrete depends on your priorities, budget, and climate.

Concrete is generally more durable, lasting up to 50 years with minimal upkeep, and offers more customization options like staining and stamping, which can add more to a home's value. However, it is more expensive upfront and can be prone to cracking in cold climates where water can freeze and expand.

Asphalt is typically cheaper and quicker to install and is easier to repair. It performs better in colder climates. However, it requires more maintenance, including regular resealing, has a shorter lifespan, and can get hot and sticky in intense sunlight.

Ultimately, if durability and long-term value are key, concrete is often the better choice. If upfront cost and performance in cold weather are more important, asphalt may be preferable.

While some areas may allow for a slope of up to 20%, this is often the maximum slope for driveways, with a few exceptions of up to 25%. Other regions may have a maximum of 12%, 15%, or 18%, so check with your local building department to ensure you’re laying a driveway that is up to code for your location.
