"Can only say good about the work Gregg Conway did for me removing trees; leveling property and creating a driveway with Crush and Run. I am very pleased and have already recommended them for a significant tree removal. Amazing Work. Looking forward to future projects."

"After being ignored by two other contractors for a relatively small residential drainage project Brennan was a happy change. He reviewed the work when he said he would. His proposed solution was far more practical than the other contractors and less costly. He started the work when promised and did an excellent job. The work was completed per our agreed scope and everything was left in a tidy state. On top of this the work was completed more quickly than expected and Brennan asked for substantially less payment than the agreed on quote. I was so pleased with the entire experience that I paid more than he asked for. I strongly recommend Mokma Grading for the intelligence, quality and honesty shown. They'll be the only contractor I call for similar work in future."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can technically make a crawl space liveable, but the only way to do so is by converting it into a basement. While some crawl spaces are big enough to walk through and store large items, they lack appropriate insulation and space to be liveable.

Concrete blocks are the cheapest way to base a shed. However, the space in between allows critters to go under, burrow, and even damage your shed’s frame. For a more pest-proof option, consider building a shed base with gravel or paver stones. Both options are fairly affordable and easy enough for a DIY project. For gravel, you can build a wooden frame to contain the loose material.

Depth is not a qualifying component of evacuation. Any human-made cut, cavity, or depression in the earth’s surface is considered excavation. The hole from excavation can be any size, shape, or depth. Excavation is used to create foundations, reservoirs, drainage ditches, and roads. Long, narrow excavations are called trenches and are often used for underground utilities.

No, a ditch isn’t a trench. A ditch is an open, relatively shallow channel that’s carved out of the ground and used for drainage purposes. In contrast, a trench is a deeper excavation that’s entirely underground. Trenches have many uses, including gas lines, sewage systems, and electrical wiring. Unlike trenches, ditches don’t get filled back in with dirt after they’re dug.

In the United States, a depth of 36 inches (three feet) for underground water lines is the accepted industry standard. This depth varies from location to location based on local conditions. In areas with colder winters, they may be buried deeper to prevent frozen well water pipes : This is usually at least six inches below the frost level. The International Plumbing Code calls for a minimum of 12 inches below grade.
