"Steve, Jesse, Simmons, and the entire team at Carolina Wildlife Handling have dealt expertly and knowledgeably with the small bat colony in our attic. From educating us as homeowners about this protected species and about the health risks associated with their guano to following my lead in not discussing the critters in front of my youngest children until they had been relocated - this crew were pros. They explained each step of the process in detail, came when they said they would, were respectful of property and very thorough, Too bad the bats are now fully excluded and relocated, because it would be a pleasure to hire them again! I recommend CWH without reservations."

"Pest Control:

The previous pest control company I had (a large nation wide company) came out once a quarter for service. Every time they came for service they said they treated the crawl space. Recently we saw some roaches in the house, so when I went to check in the crawl space, it was clear that the crawl space had never been treated.

After terminating service with that company, I had a couple of other companies come out for an assessment. One salesman promised to clean up (de-web) the crawlspace, but the technician who came out said he would not enter the crawl space. This seems to happen a lot with pest control companies i.e. the technician never follows through on promises made by the salesman.

Taylor Cook from Economy Exterminators clearly laid out what they would do in the contract - in writing. The price was about 30% more than the previous company but they are supposed to come out 6 times a year (every 60 days) instead of every quarter. This may be over doing it, but they do cover 44 pests including carpenter ants and mice. This is more than what most companies cover.

Kevin Hagan, the technician who came out per schedule a couple of days later did everything that was agreed, which included de-webbing the crawl space and treating it and thus adequately met my expectations.

Foundation Crawl Space Automatic Vents:

I ordered for this along with the pest control agreement. I had previously got quotes for this from 2 other Angies list companies. Economy Exterminators gave the best quote.

While talking about the vents, Taylor said the vents came with a lifetime warranty. However, when I received the copy of the contract, it said 1 year labor & materials warranty. So when I asked about it, he said he will revise.

However, the revised version said 5 year warranty, which is what the manufacturer offers the company. I understand that Taylor may have misquoted when he said lifetime warranty. However, I just did not like the way this went about, so I cancelled the order.

The next day, Taylor called me back to tell me that he asked his management to make an exception and keep the initial promise and provide lifetime warranty. The revised contract this time had the lifetime warranty clearly written out.

In the meantime, I verified from the manufacturers website that they do indeed provide only a 5 year warranty. So the extra mile (or more) that Taylor and Economy Exterminators went to earn my business is remarkable.

Hopefully, I will never have to avail of the warranty and the vents will keep working fine, but my experience so far with Economy Exterminators had been exceptional.

"I had just moved into my home and needed someone to clean/insepct my gutters as well as seal around the house to prevent critters from coming in. Jason, from Wildlife Home Solutions, sent me a quote that was the lowest I had received, came within a couple days of my requesting service, and was professional and a pleasure to deal with. I have had zero issues since he came and plan on using this company again to repair an attic door that I have very soon. Highly recommend."

"Ryan was fantastic. Despite running well into the evening hours, he came by anyways to treat the home I had recently moved out of. The treatment took no time at all, and he was able to handle all of my requests for specific documentation for proof to deliver to the rental agency. I would highly recommend this company to anyone needing some pest control."

"The customer service has been great, I received Ken Scott's contact information from and I gave him a call. He was out the next day and offered me some options on what could be done for my yard. We discussed those options and we decided on a plan of action. He scheduled a service to be performed within the next two business days. ExperiGreen has a variety of services that they can do for my yard. What really sold me was how accessible Ken is to get ahold of and his willingness to be sure he is doing what I want. If you need to get your yard under control, call ExperiGreen and ask for Ken."

Bird Control questions, answered by experts

In most cases, a mother bird will return to a disturbed nest after the disturbance has passed. However, it can be hard for a mother bird to find a relocated nest. So, while it’s false that a mother bird will abandon her nest if it’s been disturbed, it’s not a good idea to relocate a nest with live babies or eggs in it.

Woodpeckers usually feed on homes when there is a food source present, and termites are one possible source. However, the presence of woodpeckers doesn’t necessarily mean there are termites. They may also be feeding on more harmless insects like ants or spiders. If woodpeckers seem drawn to one particular part of your home’s siding, it might be worth hiring a termite inspector to check for the presence of these pesky critters.

Certain strong smells may help repel bats, though this is not a foolproof method and is best used in conjunction with other deterrence strategies. Scents like peppermint oil, eucalyptus, cinnamon, cloves, and mint are often suggested as natural remedies. To create a spray, you can mix two cups of warm water with half a cup of sugar and a few drops of your preferred essential oil. Apply this mixture using a spray bottle to possible entry points and throughout the affected area, such as an attic. While this home remedy is popular, evidence supporting its effectiveness is limited.

It is possible, though unlikely, that a home insurance policy will help cover the costs of professional bat removal. However, some policies will chip in for guano removal and associated repairs, such as replacing drywall. Take some time to read the fine print of your homeowner’s insurance policy and call your provider to inquire about bat removal, guano removal, and related repairs.

The cost for bird and bat control services typically ranges from $300 to $1,000. The final price depends on several factors, including the size and severity of the infestation, the specific removal method used, and the complexity of accessing the affected areas.
