"Excellent work and excellent response time. Romulo showed us why the old concrete cracked and we put in a thicker pad with some fiberglass mesh to prevent the new section from cracking and also used a higher grade concrete. Work was done within a week of my call to him, and went very well. I would highly recommend his company to anyone that needs concrete work done."

"William did an outstanding job on constructing brick steps in the rear of my garage. He completed the job in less than three hours. It was a small job. It is usually difficult to find anyone to do something like this. He took pride in his work."

"communication with the staff was pretty lousy. But once work began everything seemed good. My only issue was we were told that an inspector would come out and check work for and remove the building permit of the door, and they would send pictures of the work they did that never happened. We are still having the same problems. Plus the vapor barrier was destroyed and wanted us to pay to replace it. we thought it was new pretty much. Bottom line we never saw the inspector."

"LV Building Solutions did a fantastic job building a screened in porch on my deck. I couldn’t be happier! Benito provided options and was creative in making this project the best end result for me. He was easy to communicate with and was professional, timely and his price was fair. I would highly recommend him and would absolutely use him again!"

"Very professional. Was very patient with me about my timing. After 4 companies quotes and personalities I chose AquaDry. I actually went to sight and watched them. They do not use heavy equipment. Excavation is done manually to control the dig. Wires, drainage and where footings actually are. Instead of all the mess and cost of digging up around the entire foundation. Thank You!"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

The size of your pizza oven will determine the number of bricks necessary to build it. So the bigger your pizza oven, the more fire bricks you’ll need to purchase. Keep in mind that fire bricks cost about $3 each.

Yes, you can limewash surfaces other than brick. Plaster, stone, stucco, and concrete can all also be limewashed. Any porous surface that will absorb the wash is a good candidate for limewash, although it won’t help much with waterproofing. If you choose to limewash over paint, you’ll need to prep before applying it to avoid a powdery, chalky finish. Shiny surfaces like metal or glass can’t absorb limewash, so it’s not suited for these.

You can turn a red brick white through a process called whitewashing. Whitewash isn’t a stain but rather is made from water and white latex paint. Adding more water to the mix will make the solution look lighter when applied, and adding more paint will make it look more white.

Professionally done brick repointing can last 20 to 30 years, sometimes longer. However, the exact lifespan depends on several factors, including the quality of the mortar, the skill of the mason, and exposure to weather. If you live in an area with harsh weather or frequent freeze-thaw cycles, you may need to repoint more often. Repointing that is done as a DIY project may only last 10 to 15 years. It's time to repoint when you notice signs of mortar failure, such as crumbling or missing mortar, holes, or vines growing between the bricks. Regular inspections can help you catch these issues early.

Yes, an outdoor fireplace should use fire bricks. Fire bricks are specially designed to withstand high levels of heat and thus won’t crack as easily as regular bricks when exposed to the intense heat inside a fireplace.
