Appliances, Heating and Air conditioning A/C repair and Service

"These technician is assigned to diagnose refrigerator ice maker issue. He came in other day to diagnose the issue. He hardly stayed 5 mins and said we need to switch off the refrigerator for 24 hours before he can diagnose the issue. He said he will come back on wednesday morning hours to diagnose the issue. But he updated the warranty company saying it product issue and should be covered under product warranty. Why these technicians are so dishonest on this, and i have seen technicians doing these for last couple of claim request."

"Their customer service is pretty bad. I scheduled an appointment, replied to their text asking me to confirm the appointment, then received a text thanking me for confirming my appointment. Then, they showed up an hour early, before I got home. My husband knew someone was coming to repair the dryer, but none of the details, since I had planned on being home to deal with it. The guy apparently checked a few things out, then left. The dryer had started making a rubbing noise after they replaced a belt a few months earlier. The dryer was still making the same rubbing noise when I got home, in plenty of time for my actual, agreed upon appointment time. When I contacted Mr Appliance, they said I didn't specifically mention the rubbing noise in my list of problems when I made the appointment, so they weren't going to come back to address it. So, the guy came an hour early, cleaned out some lint from the dryer door, then left, and I got a bill for $200. "

"I called for repair service (not under warranty) because my LG refrigerator was no longer cooling. Was able to get an appointment quickly and the woman who answered the phone was so nice. I was told that I would receive a call when the tech was on the way - I did not but I was able to follow on the map which was a great tool. Tech came in, put their tool bag down, opened my refrigerator and said "Thats not good." Asked if we heard some kind of ticking - which we did not. Never touched a single tool or looked at anything else . Then he decided I needed to replace the compressor and we received an estimate for approximately $1400. He then let me know about the options they had on-site that I could replace mine with. I was under the impression that there would be a more thorough diagnostic and as I see from your previous responses to other reviews, that is what I should have had. I understand that the techs are experts in their field but I expect more from a diagnostic than opening the door. After my appointment I got a little nervous and called the business to ask questions as I wasn't confident with the way the visit went. Was told the supervisor was on the phone and he would call back. Now it's Thursday, almost a week later and I never heard back so I called again today. Told the woman who answered that I was waiting on a call back and she said there were no notes in the system so just wanted to know what was going on. I let her know and asked her what a diagnostic should have consisted of and told her my concerns. She put me on hold and was going to get the supervisor on the phone. Instead, she got back on and let me know that the supervisor said that the tech is an expert so he just knew it was the issue without doing anything else (along those lines, not verbatim). How confident should I be in the service I received, especially when that is a supervisors response? And honestly I thought it might be the compressor myself before I called because that seems to be an issue but I called your business so that I could be sure it was the issue and because you would do a diagnostic to confirm. I didn't pay so someone could tell me my refrigerator wasn't cooling. I already knew that. Would you be confident if you pulled into a car repair shop because your car was acting up and they looked at it and told you the engine needed to be replaced without looking at anything?"

Appliance Repair questions, answered by experts

With proper cleaning and maintenance, most ovens last 15 to 20 years. When it comes to longevity, ovens are one of the more enduring appliances. That's because ovens don't have as many moving parts as other popular large appliances, like dishwashers and washing machines, so they don't wear out as quickly.

If you're replacing an old built-in oven with a new one of the same size and type, you'll only need to pay for the new oven's cost. However, if your new built-in oven is a different size or type, you might need to pay for construction updates or the cost of a new outlet or gas line.

The answer very much depends on the type and extent of the damage, but on average it might cost between $100 and $430. Keep in mind that, while parts may be inexpensive, the real cost will likely be the labor of the professional you hire. Appliance repair technicians often cost between $50 and $150 per hour.

Generally, it will take a few hours, considering the removal of old units and installation adjustments.

Often, a repairperson who comes to your home will advise you on whether to replace or repair an appliance. If the repair cost is high and only slightly extends the appliance's longevity, the repairperson may recommend a replacement. Keep in mind that if you decide to buy a new appliance, you’ll likely still have to pay the repairperson for their time and assessment.
