Repair or Service a Clothes Washer or Dryer
$200
Their customer service is pretty bad. I scheduled an appointment, replied to their text asking me to confirm the appointment, then received a text thanking me for confirming my appointment. Then, they showed up an hour early, before I got home. My husband knew someone was coming to repair the dryer, but none of the details, since I had planned on being home to deal with it. The guy apparently checked a few things out, then left. The dryer had started making a rubbing noise after they replaced a belt a few months earlier. The dryer was still making the same rubbing noise when I got home, in plenty of time for my actual, agreed upon appointment time. When I contacted Mr Appliance, they said I didn't specifically mention the rubbing noise in my list of problems when I made the appointment, so they weren't going to come back to address it. So, the guy came an hour early, cleaned out some lint from the dryer door, then left, and I got a bill for $200.

Appliance (Smaller Size) Installation and Replacement
$261,200
I have used Mr. Appliance in the past and had good experiences. However, a recent experience with them was so dreadful, I have to caution people to avoid this business. I was having new floors put into my home. In order to do that, my appliances had to be disconnected and reconnected. I called Mr. Appliance and they said sure. What I didn't know at the time is that the company now has set fees for dealing with appliances independent of job or size. So, for example, to move (twice) my fairly small wine chiller--2x3 feet--was over 600.00. They moved my microwave, which I had not asked for, and charged me over 300.00. All told, to move a fridge, wine cooler, microwave, dishwasher and stacked washer and dryer, Mr. Appliance charged me 2612.00. I should add that a friend--we had to be elsewhere for our floor replacement--watched all this work. None of it, except for moving the refrigerator was difficult and most was accomplished in minutes. I tried to get Mr. Appliance to work with me o

Paid nearly $150 for the tech to come out and tell me that they’d ordered the wrong part for my dishwasher. Weeks later I’m being hounded for an additional $50 as a restocking fee for the wrong part they ordered. Definitely using someone else next time.

After an initial leak repair on our dishwasher, other issues appeared immediately. After multiple service trips where issues were misdiagnosed, we finally had a technician perform proper diagnostics and identify the issue. Mr. Appliance was willing to refund all our parts and service charges only if we continued to pay for more work. As we wanted to simply buy a new dishwasher rather than award them more work, they insisted on charging us for service visits. Poor business practice to recoup a full service visit cost given the relatively low cost to the business to send a tech out on a 20 minute visit.

Diagnosed washer as not worth repairing. Came back to replace defective switch on dryer. Competent, prompt, fair.

All I needed was a simple dryer repair.
Response from Mr. Appliance of Durham-Chapel Hill
"I am not sure what company this customer used for her dryer repair, but it was definitely not Mr Appliance of Cary. I think I would be just as frustrated as this customer, based on her description of the events, however Mr Appliance of Cary has never done work for this customer (name not included) ; we do not now and have never had a manager named "Tim" (or any employee named "Tim" for that matter); we do not and have never serviced the Burlington, NC area (Burlington is nowhere near the Mr Appliance of Cary service area; and finally, we would never treat a customer the way this customer describes."
