DK Appliance Repair

A month or so ago our refrigerator stopped working. DK was the first to respond to my quote request and had someone come out that same afternoon. The repairman was able to diagnose and fix the problem in about 15 min. At that time I also asked him to check out the broken ice dispenser, which hadn't been working for quite some time. He also diagnosed that problem, but a new part was needed. That work was scheduled after the part came in and the repair was successful. A few days ago the flap on the ice dispenser stopped closing properly; once again, DK replied promptly to my request and the repairman came within a day and fixed the problem, no charge. DK has consistently been prompt, professional, and very good at communicating. If they say they will call or arrive in a certain time window, that's what happens. If for any reason they are running late, which only happened once by a few minutes, they communicate that, as well. We heartily recommend them and would definitely hire again.

Kris at DK Appliance was the second repairman, after the first was unsatisfactory. I knew the heating element was out and the first guy replaced it. When there was still no heat the first guy and I didn't agree on lots of things. So I came to Angie's List, got several call-backs, and Kris arrived the next morning on Dec. 22. He called early and had me run the dishwasher an hour before arrival. He stayed 2 hours to confirm the control board needed replacing. Ordered the part and was going to come Christmas Eve. Local part place was closed the 24th, but I ordered directly from Whirlpool and Kris was still able to come. Friendly, professional, explained what was going on. His wife was awesome on the phone as well. If you see the cost listed below it doesn't include the part. Like I told him, whenever I call a repair person (probably 6 in 2018) I learn something: either something about the repair or which person not to call back. If needed, I would definitely call DK APPLIANCE again.

Came the day after we called. Did not have the parts needed, but ordered them and installed them the day the parts arrived from the factory. Refrigerator fully repaired.

By the time the tech left, the ice door was still not working, and we had to turn the water supply off to prevent a flood, because he had made it much worse. The service window was a half of a work day, and he wanted to come back out to finish the job. Unacceptable.

Slow responsiveness. I would use them again.

Kris called early and asked if he could come early, also. He immediately recognized the problem and set about clearing the ice build up. He said the condition was normal and nothing more was needed. He said the charge was $85 and that he would email the invoice later. I gave him a check for $85 but later when the invoice arrived it indicated the charge was $65, not $85. I didn't mind paying $85 because that is still less than other repairmen have charged just for evaluation of a problem but to dishonestly pocket a $20 tip is shady. I may call him in the future but he won't be my first choice.

He brought a part to repair the dish washer.

It was fine. I always think the price is too high but that’s part of the game. It wasn’t my favourite price but it was acceptable. He came right away. No problems. He showed up when he was supposed to.

I have used this servicer many times, but the work does not last. He repaired my dishwasher at least 3 times, but the repair to the top panel would not last. I did continue to use them however because of all the good reviews. However, the reason for this review is for a completely shabby job on my refrigerator, leading to a ruined hardwoord floor, and rudeness/unprofessionalism. Several months ago they completed a repair on my refrigerator's water lines, which were leaking. At the time of the review the repairman lost a few of the screws for the back panel, but said it would be fine without it as long as we didn't move the refrigerator around. Recently, I noticed that our hardwood floor near the fridge was warped, and discovered the at the refrigerator had been leaking for a long time, leading to water accumulating under the floor. I called DK appliance as they had done the previous repair, and scheduled a repair. On the day of the repair I took off from work and stayed home to await the repairman. When they called to say he was on his way, the assistant told me that I needed to move the refrigerator out myself so that he could do the repair. When I informed her that there was no way that I would be able to move it, and that is part of the job of a repairman, they said he refused to move it, and would not be coming. She was completely rude and unprofessional. I'm sorry I've wasted money on shabby repairs with them.

The repairmen was very clean and professional compared to other experiences I had in the past.   I told him I didn't think the door seal was as tight as it used to be.  He told me not to replace it.  The seal was fine.   I don't remember the exact amount I'd have to find it but it was reasonable.  I would definitely call them again
