"I called a number of places on Angies and they told me they couldn't give me a time when they could get to me and that it would probably be at least 5 to 7 hours. When I called A=Acess Lock and Key, Teddy Poulos answered and expressed concern for my situation. He said he had a customer scheduled for lock work, but that he would call tem a see if the would mid a short delay. He called me back in 2 minutes and said he could be at my place in about 10-15 mi\inutes. He arrived in 10 and opened my locked door in about 90 seconds. He was very cuteous and professional and I was impressed with his customer oriented approach and the excellent job he did. If I ever need a locksmith again. I will definitely use him."

"Sal and his assistant did an awesome job! I was impressed that Sal arrived 20 minutes early, moved the assembled furniture to where I wanted them, and left my home office immaculate. Both men were professional, pleasant, and efficient. I would definitely hire him again and recommend Sal's Contracting to anyone needing furniture assembled."

"These young men did a fantastic job on my bed and dresser. Helped me clean up and carry boxes up and down stairs, it was very helpful to me. I’ll definitely be saving their number and would recommend them to others who have assembly projects and need handyman services."

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

You can cut a door knob off using a sawzall, but you risk causing additional damage to the door itself. You’ll also need to completely replace the door knob, costing you extra money and another trip to the hardware store.

If your door handle turns without opening, the most likely culprit is a loose or stripped spindle. This part connects the handles to the latch mechanism, and when it’s not properly engaged, turning the handle does nothing. Other issues might include a broken latch, loose screws, or even something small blocking an inner mechanism. In any case, it’s usually a matter of tightening, adjusting, or replacing a worn-out part inside the handle assembly—or calling in a professional to do it for you.

The best type of deadbolt depends on your specific needs. If accessibility is your primary concern, a single-cylinder deadbolt is the easiest to operate. Mortise locks are likely the most secure type of deadbolt you can install, but single-cylinders combined with secondary locking mechanisms like vertical locks are also a great option. Smart locks will give you the most flexibility to open and close your locks whenever and wherever you need to.

It’s possible, but depends on the design of your lock. Some door locks that lack a keyhole do boast a small hole on the exterior handle or knob. This hole’s primary function is to allow water to drain out of the lock, in addition to giving homeowners an easy spot to insert lubrication. However, you can typically use a paperclip in this pinhole to unlock the door by manipulating the mechanism inside.

Thieves can open almost anything with enough time and the right tools, but they also prefer easy targets that are unlikely to get them caught. Forcing open gates is loud and difficult, and to be able to open one electronically requires extensive knowledge of the system, which most thieves don't have. Electric and other security gates are great deterrents because the thief will move to an easier target. If the thief is determined to enter your property, they will most likely find a different entrance point.
