"     In order to complete to layout design I submitted a drawing of the room as well as a series of photos.  The website for Homemade design has a questionaire what helps define your overall tastes in design.  I joined Pinterest and started boards for furniture, lighting, bookshelves which were reviewed.  Homemade design comes to New York periodically to meet with clients not in the Boston area and this gave us a chance to meet and select furniture and upholstery at the New York Design center.  This is an extra charge but well worth it since I was completely overwhelmed.  They were extremely patient and guided me through the process.  At one point I decided to move the television which turned out to be a bad idea -- they explained why it would not worked and I concurred competely after I understood the reasons.  So, they are not afraid to tell you if you going down the wrong road. I live in a New York City townhouse and forget that I do not have a whol lot of space even though my house is huge for NYC. So, I had to be told how to "scale" everything to the space we had to work with, which was helpful
I purchased the service several months ago but was not ready to actually decide on the actual purchases until recently. So, the delay in completion is because of my schedule.  I now hope to finish everything by September.

"Jonatan Blackburn, owner, showed us several carpet selections in his showroom and encouraged us to take home samples to help us make our decision.  He also asked a manufacturer to mail us larger samples of two selections.  Jon took a lot of time discussing the advantages and disadvantages of each carpet we considered.  We were impressed by the courteous and personalble manner in which he helped us - he is not the hard-sell type.
We made our selection and made an appointment for the installation about a week later.  After the installation, upon seeing the carpet in the morning as opposed to the afternoon light, we noticed a couple of areas where the seams were noticeable.  Carpet Smart responded quickly to our request to hide the seams.  We appreciated their responsiveness and committment to guaranteeing a quality installation.
We will definitely use them for future installations.

"I sent the money and dimensions in in November 2011.  She responded back very quickly, informed me that she was very busy and wouldn't be able to start on my project for a couple of weeks.  I actually responded that that was fine.  After a month or so with no contact, i emailed.  She emailed  right back, apologized and asked for some more measurements.  I sent them.  Didn't hear anything, when in response to inquiry, she asked again for living room measurements-- that was Feb. 3rd.  On Feb. 20th, I emailed and asked for timeline.  She responded back the next day with 3 designs asking for my preference.  I emailed back on the 22nd of Feb with my preference.  On March 16th, I inquired again as to timeline for completion. Two weeks later she sent a concept board with some furnishings.  No window coverings or lights were suggested.  Three were multiple rugs with no direction of which one for each room.  All and all, not a pleasant experience.  I suspect I could have gotten better service using Pottery Barn's free design service (especially since most of the furnishings came from there.)"

"I purchased an Angie's List deal which included removal of the old tile, installing new backing board, installing and grouting 40 square feet of tile, which covers the cost of tile, grout, & labor.  I knew the tile I wanted wasn't going to be covered and would have to purchase it, but I also had to purchase the grout.  After weeks of leaving messages and emails I was finally contacted to schedule installation.   They did a nice job but did not put down any kind of tarps on the floor or newly installed granite counter top.  It took me three times to mop up the mess from the floor & counters.  Then when I went to have the outlets remounted to sit flush, the electrician couldn't even move the light switch because the tile covered the screw holding in the switch.  ABX did come back out to correct the problem but I felt the entire process to be very unprofessional.  In the end the tiles look great, and they resolved the problems I had but not worth the grief and aggravation."
