"The owner Frank came out with a smile and put me at ease. I had compared three electrical companies. The Electic Man was the best price. The work was Top notch. Very satisfied. "These folks are great to include the technicians and the office staff. Mr Appliance diagnosed and fixed the problem but we had to work through a home warranty company to get the parts. Felicia in the office worked with me and the home warranty company when the parts were not delivered. Without her help, I don't believe the problem would have been resolved. Highly recommend the company."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

If you have a garage heater that is 1,500 watts or more, it will need its own breaker. As a good rule of thumb, no appliance should exceed 1,500 watts per outlet for best outcomes. Consult a local garage heating service to determine the power needs for your outdoor or indoor space.

Yes, blue wires can be hot wires in the U.S. However, they are less common in residential properties than red and black hot wires. Blue wires are typically used as traveler wires in three-way and four-way switches, as well as ceiling fans. They allow fixtures to be controlled by multiple switches, like when there are switches at the top and bottom of a staircase for the same light.

Upgrading your electrical system can save you money on your monthly utility bills by powering your home more efficiently. Electrification nonprofit Rewiring America estimates that a household could save $1,800 per year on energy bills by upgrading to a modern electric heat pump, switching to a heat pump for their water, installing solar panels on the roof, and converting to an electric vehicle.

An AC disconnect, also known as a switch box or fuse box, is a safety switch that allows the AC’s electrical supply to be turned off from the outside, usually done by a mechanical contractor coming to work on your unit. The box is protected from the weather by a cover or may be designed as a pull-out unit. Your local code determines where the AC disconnect must be mounted, but it's usually close to your outdoor AC unit.

Upgrading a two-prong outlet to a three-prong outlet typically costs between $20 and $50 per outlet if the electrical box is already grounded. However, the cost can increase significantly if the system is not grounded, as this may require grounding the box or upgrading your electrical panel. Electricians generally charge between $50 and $100 per hour for labor, and the total cost for a more complex installation could range from $130 to $300.
