You sure can mow your grass paver driveway–and it’ll look better if you do. Just push your lawnmower across like you would a paver-less lawn. For a really low-maintenance driveway option, you can use pebbles or other small stones between the pavers instead of grass. They’ll still allow rainwater to seep into the ground.

Make your ryegrass thicker by boosting soil health. Add organic matter, aerate the lawn if the soil is compacted, fertilize appropriately, and see if your lawn needs dethatching. Longer lengths are always better for striping, so mowing your grass to between 2½ to 4 inches tall. More length allows for optimal bendiness, plus it helps your lawn stay healthier, too. Remember, never mow more than ⅓ of the grass height at once to keep your lawn looking green and healthy.

You can leave grass clippings on the lawn, depending on their length. You don’t want to completely cover new grass and block it from sunlight, or encourage moss crowd out the more delicate grass. Both zoysia grass and bermuda grass are somewhat similar to St. Augustine because they’re all warm-season grasses. Beyond that, most grass types have unique properties that set them apart. Zoysia grass costs twice the price of St. Augustine grass on average and it has thinner blades and a deeper green appearance. Bermuda grass, compared to St. Augustine, has much thinner blades, is softer to the touch, and has a higher tolerance for colder weather.
