"Lesson learned. Always get an estimate. BEFORE the work is done. At least a digital copy. Arrangements for the project were made, with some one named Lynn, for the company to send someone to complete the work. We were quoted over the phone 4500-5000 which included a mold test. A sub contractor with an entirely different company (National Mold Company) was sent. When the contractor arrived, he stated that the job would be much more simpler than first thought. This led us to believe that the job would cost less, no. All said and done, they charged $5500. All said and done, it's almost like no work was done. The stains and the smell are still there. Only one actual board was taken upon the attic room. The ceiling in the bedroom was primed and painted but are still visible and have a funky smell. At this point I'm going to. Do what we should have done; Do the job ourselves. Just now with $5500 less dollars in our pockets. A detailed receipt was not given even though it was requested."

While bathroom mold, commonly known as black mold, does not produce harmful mycotoxins, it can still pose health risks. If disturbed, mold spores can become airborne and potentially cause allergic reactions, respiratory problems, skin irritations, and other health issues. This is especially true for individuals with allergies or sensitivities. While bathroom molds are not as dangerous as other mold species, prompt action is crucial to mitigate health risks and prevent further spread. 

Mold growth is just one common sign of excess moisture in the bathroom. You may also see the paint in the room start to peel away from the walls, or that the walls remain wet for some time after you bathe.

Condensation on the windows is another sign that your bathroom has a potential moisture problem. The room itself may start to smell like mildew.

If you own a stereo microscope, you should be able to see the fibers. The stereo microscope often can perform magnification up to 50x. But unless you have experience viewing asbestos fibers, you may not know exactly what you are seeing. Some fibers are curly, while others are long and straight. Blue, brown, white, and gray colored fibers are all possible.

The high humidity of steam showers creates the ideal environment for mold growth, so it’s important to stay proactive against it. Along with regular cleaning, run your bathroom fan during and after your steam shower. Keep your shower door open and any doors and windows in the bathroom to allow the space to air out properly. If you come across ugly mold spores, spray them with undiluted vinegar, let it sit for at least an hour, and then scrub away the mold.

Mold and other fungi love moisture, so the best way to prevent mold growth after water damage is to remove as much moisture as possible. First, find the source of the water or moisture, such as a leak or clogged gutters, and correct the problem. Next, remove standing water, vacuum up puddles with a shop vacuum, and run blower fans and dehumidifiers for 24 to 72 hours. Once you've removed all traces of moisture, disinfect the area using either vinegar or bleach to kill any remaining mold spores.
