"I purchased a 1920's Bungalow and discovered after a very heavy rainfall the crawl space flooded, which led to a very musty smell in my house. I hired a different company who tested and said there was various mold including black mold, but could not find it. I then contacted EnviroFry. Deven and William tested and found it in my attic and crawl space. They removed the mold in the attic and in the crawl space, installed a French drainage system inside the crawl space and encapsulated it with vapor barrier. They cleaned my ducts and fogged my HVAC and house. They were very professional and are wonderful people! I have already recommended them to people I know. I highly recommend them!"

Mold Testing and Remediation questions, answered by experts

The easiest way to know if it’s a leak or evaporation that’s causing low water levels in your pool is by conducting the bucket test. However, you can also monitor the chemicals in your pool for signs of imbalances or conduct a visual inspection of the areas around your pool in search of excessive moisture or cracks.

Not necessarily. If the mold is only on the surface or in small areas, you may be able to clean it effectively without removing all the caulk. However, if the mold has deeply penetrated the caulk or the caulk is damaged or deteriorating, you should remove the caulk completely and replace it to ensure thorough mold removal and prevent future growth.

Underfloor insulation alone will not cause moisture and mold, but improper installation can. Although the purpose is to seal any drafts, your subfloor still needs ventilation. If you seal the area too tightly and prevent all airflow, this can cause moisture to get trapped. This moisture eventually leads to mold and—if your floors are wood—rotting.

Signs you may need mold remediation include visible mold growth on walls or ceilings, a persistent musty odor, or health symptoms like allergies and respiratory issues. Areas affected by water damage or excessive humidity are prone to hidden mold. A professional inspection can confirm whether mold remediation is required, especially for large or concealed infestations.

Bad odors and actual, visible mold aren’t the only ways to tell if your floorboards are suffering from too much moisture. Everything from high humidity to direct contact with water can cause wood to buckle, warp, peel, and discolor. Spotting one or more of these signs could be a clue that you’re dealing with mold.
