"Sergiy and his crew are great! I am remodeling my kitchen and they completed a handful of projects for me. They care about their work quality and are very professional. Sergiy was transparent with what work was being done and the associated costs. I would highly recommend Sergiy and his team!"

"Jason Jentz was the service person. He was pleasant, and shared what he needed to do. He made sure all was clear. It was nice to have a knowledgeable person get the job done and stay in good humor. We highly recommend Mr. Jentz. Toni Peterson"

"I had solar panels installed by SunPower's subcontractor Hooked on Solar in 2020. In 2023 some of the panels were damaged by an electrical outage and surge. It took about 4 months for Hooked on Solar to identify the damaged panels, schedule an appointment to replacement, but finally they fixed the panels."

"I cannot say enough good things about Mike and his team. No task is too large or cumbersome for him. He is professional but also hilarious. Has a great upbeat personality and works very, very well. He's not greedy and treats both small and large jobs with equal respect. Happy to work with 100+ year-old homes with no problem. I value that he explains things as he goes along. He is knowledgeable about a lot of things and doesn't force one solution on you over another. Very responsive and won't just disappear on you when things get busy, like many people seem to do. Reasonable prices. Seems to handle stress well and is always positive, which is important to me. His team with Oscar and Nick came along with him on a job and were just as wonderful. He has great communication if he is not able to make it on time. :) He doesn't rush jobs, which I really respect. Just a generally good and knowledgeable individual. I wholeheartedly recommend him and SolFarm Solar Co."

Solar Panels questions, answered by experts

Depending on the climate in your area, the best time to install solar panels is either winter or early spring. Summer is a fine time to install panels, too, but it tends to be the busy season, so prices may be higher and companies may have packed schedules. The installation process can take more time than expected between getting permits and finalizing a design, so start as soon as you can.

Solar shingles typically last between 20 and 30 years, a lifespan comparable to that of traditional solar panels and standard asphalt shingles. The exact duration depends on the manufacturer and the quality of the installation. Because solar shingles are a newer technology, there is limited data on their actual long-term performance. Factors that can impact their durability and longevity include weather conditions, roof ventilation, and regular maintenance. To extend the life of your solar shingles, you should conduct regular inspections and cleaning, and make any necessary repairs as quickly as possible.

The best way to know if your roof can support solar panels is to hire a structural engineer. They’ll look at your roof and approve the design of your solar panel system or suggest changes. The best roofing for solar panels is made from strong materials like asphalt shingles and metal, but tile and gravel will work. Softer materials like thatch or temporary structures are not a good fit.

The average homeowner needs around 22 solar panels, but the exact number depends on your monthly energy consumption. Your solar professional should size your array to offset your consumption, meaning you’ll need fewer panels if you use below-average amounts of electricity, or more than 22 if you use above-average amounts of electricity. The number of panels also depends on the output of each panel. The average is around 400 watts, but you might need more panels if you install less capable equipment. Since there are so many variables, you should have a professional size your system.

Solar shingles and solar panels are not the same. While solar shingles use the same technology as traditional solar panels, they integrate with your existing roof. That means they are used to build your roof instead of simply resting on top of it. When comparing solar shingles and solar panels, it's helpful to know that solar shingles are more aesthetically pleasing than solar roof panels. They also do better in harsh weather due to limited uplift from strong winds.
