Was assured they could, flooring came no transitions even though we verified! we told either order a different floor or use a strip that didn't match (had been out of our home for 7 weeks back into a corner with no time left. All because someone didn't do their job tried talking to the manager Travis very rude store manager. Done a half way job ordering and verifying.. even after being reminded multiple times. Before installing carpet yourself, check whether the manufacturer’s warranty will remain intact. Many manufacturer’s warranties won’t cover the cost of materials under the warranty if it wasn’t installed by a pro. In addition, you should only install carpet yourself if you’re familiar with the tools required and if the installation is straightforward, not involving things such as floor vents or stairs. 

Stain-resistant carpet might be worth it for your household if you have children or pets and expect spills to happen. While it may cost more than you expected upfront, you may save money in the long run if you have to replace your carpet less frequently (thanks to stains not absorbing down into the fibers). 

In some cases, stairs without carpet are actually slipperier than carpeted stairs, but if the carpet is brand new, dirty, or just slick, it may seem like your stairs are the most slippery ones in existence. Fortunately, traction treads can be added over most stair surface materials, increasing the traction you’re able to get and reducing the risk of slipping.

Carpet is most often affixed to the floor by tacks in tack strips rather than nailed or glued directly to the subfloor. The tack strips are nailed to wood subfloors. Even if you want to install carpet over concrete, you’ll adhere the tack strips to the concrete with masonry nails or a liquid adhesive.

If you don’t put padding under your carpet, the carpet won’t be protected from wear on the underside. This could result in a shorter life span for your carpet and increased carpet repair costs over time. An unpadded carpet can also be less comfortable to walk on, depending on your subfloor and the type of carpet.
