"Steam Source is superior all around. The technicians were very professional and arrived early after giving us a call. They worked for nearly 3-4 hours cleaning all that we had asked, including the area rug I had forgotten about. They did a marvelous job getting out as many stains as possible, given that we haven't had carpets or furniture cleaned in probably 20 years! Everything looks brand new and so bright. I can't recommend Steam Source enough and will definitely call them again."

"Things looked good right after they left but I later noticed white spots on my car, stains on concrete that didnâ t come up after the garage floor dried, a torn patio cushion. I had to replace my patio cushions because they did not come clean. They are a friendly company but attention to detail needs improvement."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, carpeted stairs are generally considered safer than stairs with hard surfaces like wood, vinyl, or tile. Carpet provides more traction, which helps reduce the chances of slips and falls, and its cushioning can lessen the severity of an injury if a fall does occur. Hard surfaces often lack the friction needed for a secure tread and can be quite slippery.

However, it's worth noting that some carpets can also be slick, particularly if they are brand new, dirty, or made from certain materials. If any stair surface feels too slippery, traction treads can be added to most materials to increase grip and improve safety.

Carpet installation typically starts with removing the old flooring, preparing the subfloor, laying underpadding for cushioning, and securing the new carpet with tack strips, making precise cuts to fit room dimensions.

In most cases, laminate flooring is better for people with dust or other allergies as laminate is easier to clean. Carpet can trap pollen and other allergens, allowing them to be kicked up into the air again with foot traffic. Consult your flooring specialist about the best types of carpet or laminate flooring to use based on your household member’s needs.

Yes, carpets should be replaced after a house fire or significant smoke damage, even if they appear undamaged. Smoke, soot, particulates, and chemicals can penetrate deep into the carpet fibers and padding, making complete removal a complicated and time-consuming process. If water was used to extinguish the fire, it can also soak through the carpet and padding, creating a risk of mold and mildew growth. Due to these challenges and potential health risks, replacing the carpet is the safest and most effective solution.

You can expect your carpet protection to last about six months to two years. It will last longer in low-traffic areas (compared to busy areas, where your carpet experiences more wear and tear). Once the protector wears off, you’ll need to call your carpet contractor to reapply the stain protection treatment and revive your carpet
