"McKinney Appliance & Satellite Services has been to my home a few times now to repair my washer, refrigerator, and most recently an electrical issue and each time Kent is knowledgeable, progressional, and completes the job in a timely manner. Kent is always my first call when anything is not working in my home and I will always recommend his services to my associates. "I hired Neli over a week period for 3 different appliances, my dryer, washing machine, dishwasher, and even kitchen sink! I had a fantastic experience: 1. I fixed my dryer with Thomas' excellent remote guidance, changing the timer and the switch! Fabulous guidance Thomas, with lots of money saved! I learned a lot in the process. 2. I determined that there was no dishwasher leak and in the process learned how to check for leaks and trouble shoot for some common repair issues. It cost $40.00 but as I had some water on the floor, I was ready to get a new dishwasher. Now, I am confident that it wasn't a leak and caused by putting in the dishes in a funny manner and not a repair issue. I am using the dishwasher now again with no problem. 3. I determined with Thomas' help that the washing machine had a major problem and could have spun out of control into my wall....no question, it was time to get a new washing machine! This was a well spent $40.00--I even got Thomas advice on purchasing a new washing machine and what to look for. 4. I checked the drainage on my kitchen sink and learned how to empty out the "trap" and that most likely, I am okay, but what to swap out if I have continuing issues with slow drainage. In the end, I saved lots of money, gaining and learning valuable experience! Absolutely fabulous service!"

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

If you’ve accessed the bolts and nuts that hold your toilet seat in place and can’t unscrew them, it’s possible that they were overtightened or that the material corroded over time, making it impossible to unscrew. If that’s the case, you can either call in a plumber for help, or you can DIY a solution if you’re careful. Lay down masking tape around the mounting bracket and then use the tape as a surface to lay a hack saw blade. Move slowly to cut through the bracket and bolt, being careful not to damage the porcelain in the process.

Plumbing remodels typically require permits to ensure all work complies with local building codes and regulations, helping to maintain public and environmental safety.

Plumbers typically install and run gas lines. While most qualified local plumbers can handle this job, you might consider hiring a natural gas line plumber who specializes in this work. Before starting any project, it's best to check with your local utility company. They can offer recommendations for licensed plumbers who are authorized to pull permits and ensure the installation is done correctly. Regardless of who you hire, always verify that they have the proper licenses and credentials for working with gas lines.

Yes, you can change a bathtub faucet without changing the valve, as long as the new faucet is compatible with your existing valve system. Most manufacturers design their faucet trims (handles and spouts) to work with their standard valve bodies. However, you'll need to match the new faucet to your valve type, whether it's a compression, cartridge, or ball-type valve. Mixing brands can be problematic, but you can bring your old faucet parts to the hardware store and ask about compatibility.

There are nearly as many handles for your outdoor faucet as there are for your indoor faucets. Just a few include:

  • Hose bibb tee handle: about $8–$30

  • Better grip outdoor faucet handle: $20 on average

  • Round wheel handle: $6–$22

  • Turn hose bibb handle: about $15

  • Decorative handle: range from $15 to over $100
