"AKM Air Solutions did a complete HVAC replacement. I am a former General Contractor and I have used 100's of subcontractors. I would put this company in the top 10% of all I I worked with. They are very meticulous and did a excellent job. I highly recommend them."

"Samuel is extremely competent, timely, responsive, and transparent. Unfortunately, we had a roof installed a few years ago by a company who cut corners, and STMZ came to repair two separate leaks in the “new” roof. He documented every step of the process with photos, and explained what he was doing. (Most contractors, in my experience, do not take the time to explain the process to you!) I highly recommend his services, and if we ever need to replace the roof, STMZ will be the company we will call."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Choose PVC and CPVC pipes for excellent corrosion resistance against the mineral content and acidity found in local water. PEX piping is highly recommended for residential plumbing because its flexibility prevents freeze-bursts during winter temperature drops in MS. Use Schedule 40 PVC for all septic drain lines. Ensure all crawl space insulation withstands high humidity, and verify every material complies with current state plumbing codes before installation.

Helpful?

Required inspections for permitted plumbing work add extra visits, making single-day completion unlikely for major jobs. Septic system installations require soil testing and final approvals spread over several days. In rural Mendenhall, discovering older galvanized pipes or cast iron drains requires ordering specialty parts from larger supply centers. Heavy rain also halts excavation in local clay-heavy soils, and coordinating water shutoffs with municipal utility crews extends project timelines.

Helpful?

For plumbing projects in Mendenhall, you must decide whether your property connects to the municipal system or relies on a private well and septic tank. You must authorize all permit applications for your property. During renovations, finalize your fixture layouts early, as state plumbing codes dictate clearances and drain setups before rough-in work begins. If tapping into water association lines, coordinate service line sizing directly with the utility.

Helpful?

Document your Mendenhall water account details and confirm whether you use municipal sewer or a private septic system. Record the exact location of your septic tank, drain field, and any private wells. Gather your property survey to identify utility easements and older infrastructure. Note the age and material of your existing pipes, such as older galvanized steel, so local professionals arrive prepared for the correct code compliance and compatibility.

Helpful?

Verify all permit requirements with local authorities before starting plumbing work. Always confirm your hired professional holds a valid state license. Apply for septic permits well in advance, as soil evaluations add weeks to your timeline. Schedule excavation outside of the wet seasons in MS to avoid saturated ground conditions. Call the state utility locator before digging, and identify your main water shutoffs to ensure a smooth start on service day.
