"The plumber came & assessed the problem area & told how he would do it & told me a price! It was reasonable so I accepted & he went to Lowe’s to get materials then came back & fixed it all in good time! Then since he’s an electrician he fixed my tankless water tank! I’m very pleased with both jobs! Yes I recommend him for everyone!!"

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Postponing plumbing repairs leaves your home highly vulnerable during tropical storms. A compromised sewer line causes raw sewage to backflow into your house during a storm surge. Unaddressed slab leaks accelerate soil movement under your foundation in MS, creating severe structural damage. Additionally, high local humidity turns minor wall leaks into extensive mold issues within days, creating serious health hazards and complicating your insurance claims during future flood events.

Helpful?

Start by scheduling a sewer camera inspection to check for root intrusion and assess aging pipes. You must verify that your irrigation system has a compliant backflow preventer to protect your drinking water. Evaluate your water heater to ensure it sits safely above flood levels. Finally, replace old fixture shutoff valves, as these seize in the humid Long Beach climate and prevent you from stopping emergency leaks.

Helpful?

Ignoring routine water heater flushing drastically shortens the tank's lifespan due to the elevated mineral content in Long Beach water. Relying on chemical drain cleaners degrades older pipes and accelerates corrosion. Planting aggressive subtropical vegetation directly over sewer lines destroys underground pipes through severe root intrusion. Finally, leaving exterior hose bibs unprotected during winter freezes causes sudden pipe failures, ruining your outdoor plumbing work and flooding your yard.

Helpful?

Homeowners consistently underestimate the strict permitting requirements and inspection lead times needed for plumbing projects in MS. Upgrading systems in designated flood zones requires specific materials and elevated utilities to meet modern building codes. Digging trenches takes extra time due to high coastal water tables and unmarked underground utilities. Always secure a licensed professional well before hurricane season, as contractor availability drops significantly during severe weather months.

Helpful?

Watch for signs like slow drainage or yard odors after heavy rain, which signal root intrusion. If your Long Beach home was rebuilt after Katrina, your plumbing is approaching an age that requires professional inspection. Check your water heater for scale buildup from the local mineral-rich water. Schedule an evaluation if your tank is over eight years old to ensure your system stays in top shape before hurricane season begins.
