"Ricky Guillot did the work, and he was efficient and careful. When there was a problem, he redid the installation. There were bannister posts that needed careful cutting, and the whole thing looked beautiful when he was done. His choice of trim was also very tasteful. If you hire PCBB to do your floors, which is a good choice, ask for Ricky to do the floor."

"My wife and I highly recommend C Mason Concrete. Right from the very first phone call to get a quote to completion of the project Chris and his entire crew were a pleasure to work with. I called Chris on a Tuesday... we agreed on a price... and Thursday they poured concrete. It was a small project compared to what Chris usually does but he still took the time to understand what we wanted and delivered accordingly. His entire crew was on top of their game. Very happy with the end result and definitely recommend them."

"Sentri Homes provided the most professional flooring service I’ve ever had. The LVP installation turned out absolutely beautiful, and I was amazed at how quickly everything was completed without sacrificing quality. The crew was fast, accurate, and extremely detail-oriented from start to finish. Everything was installed cleanly, precisely, and with real craftsmanship. The entire process was smooth, efficient, and far beyond what I expected. I would absolutely recommend Sentri Homes to anyone needing flooring installed."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

You can buy inexpensive kitchen flooring off the shelf at most home improvement stores with the best prices offered by big-box chain stores. Be aware, though, that not all flooring materials are suitable for DIY installation. Most flooring contractors can buy your flooring at a discount, so be sure to check with your contractor before buying your flooring materials.

Depending on carpet type and labor, costs range from $3 to $12 per square foot.

Carpeting has a few benefits on stairs in addition to being a cost-effective floor covering. It absorbs sound, dampening footsteps. It also provides additional traction, which is especially important if you install linoleum floors, epoxy flooring, or any other floor covering that can become slippery if you’re wearing socks. Therefore, carpets can help prevent slips.

A subfloor's lifespan can range from 30 years to the entire life of the house, which is often between 50 and 100 years. The actual longevity depends on the material and its protection from damage. For example, while OSB may last longer than plywood, it is not the best choice for heavy flooring like ceramic tile. The most critical factor is moisture; a subfloor that avoids water damage, mold, and termites can last for decades. However, prolonged exposure to moisture will cause it to warp, rot, or grow mold, significantly shortening its life.

There could be several reasons why your carpet padding has adhered to the floor. Some of the most common reasons include:

  • There was intentional gluing or stapling to the surface.

  • The polyurethane and floor bonded over years of wear.

  • Pet urine, spills, or other substances leaked through the carpet and created a sticky surface.

If the carpeting in the home has not been changed in a long time, clearing off the padding underneath could be difficult. Pet urine can wreak havoc on carpeting and the flooring underneath. If you plan to reinstall carpeting, remember to use proper cleaning techniques for removing pet urine odors to prevent future problems.
