"Technician was on time, knowledgeable, and spent quite a while being very thorough applying chemicals. He stated the bugs would be active for 2-3 days while ingesting chemicals (they were) and that they should disappear after that. It actually took 6-7 days before we felt that we were pest-free, but we finally are."

Our distinction is the quality of service we bring to our customers. Accurate knowledge of our trade combined with ability is what makes us true professionals. Above all, we are watchful of our customers' interests, and make their concerns the basis of our business. On January 1, 1946, with $1,200 cash, a used van, a few valuable contacts, and a theme of service, J.C. Redd started the company Redd Pest Control located in Jackson, MS. Over time, Redd Pest Control grew into one of the largest pest companies in the industry covering eight states. In 1999, J.C.’s business was sold by his son Richard, with the exception of several franchised territories owned by family members in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama.\n

"Terminix was quick to respond and to get out here for a termite inspection, which is what we needed. However, they signed us up for pest control and said their agent would be out to care for us right away. So far haven’t seen him yet. Will give 5 stars if that turns out well."

Pest Control questions, answered by experts

You can use commercial repellents to help deter rodents, but they often have mixed results. A better solution is preventing rodents from getting under your home in the first place. Using steel wool or foam sealer, plug all potential entry points like gaps and cracks in the foundation.

Also, consider installing hardware cloth or wire mesh over vents, utility openings, and any openings under the porch or foundation. Regular inspections and maintenance will aid in early detection and prevention, ensuring a rodent-free environment beneath your house.

You can find anti-rat sprays in most home department stores that may be worth a try. Spray them along fences and in areas where you don’t want rats to go (like around decks) and they may think twice before approaching. For a natural version, you can try a mint spray, since rats generally dislike mint. But even the most effective sprays are unlikely to stop a hungry rat over time.

When a wasp stings, it pushes its stinger into the skin and releases venom. The sting site will typically become inflamed and swollen and likely hurt quite a bit.

Some people are allergic to the venom and can have serious allergic reactions to a wasp sting. This sting could cause the throat to swell, difficulty breathing, hives, rapid heart rate, and vomiting. If you or someone has an allergic reaction to a wasp sting, it’s important to call 911 for emergency treatment, as reactions can be life-threatening.

Bleach can technically kill drain flies, but it’s not really a great tool for getting rid of an infestation. Bleach flows down your pipes too quickly to penetrate the film where drain flies lay their eggs. Alternatively, you can use it to clean around drains, which can help prevent drain flies from returning once you get rid of the infestation.

Woodpeckers may seek out homes with aluminum siding or tin roofs because these surfaces echo their drumming. Homes with wood siding are more frequently targeted as roosting areas or for food sources. If you have insects living in the exposed wood in your home, the birds are likely looking for a snack, in which case your best option is to hire an exterminator.
