The blueprint to our success is providing each and every client with better service, quality and value than our competitors. Customer satisfaction is ingrained into the very foundation of our company and is shared by our entire MJM Team. Our goal is to provide a finished product that exceeds you expectations. We will be here tomorrow to stand behind what we did today!

"MJM has quickly become our family’s go-to for any and all household rehab projects. Our relationship started when they installed a new roof in 2015: GREAT, professional work, no BS and fair pricing. We enjoyed working with them so much, my wife and I hired them to do the full gut rehab on our historic home in South St. Louis. They did everything: demo, carpentry, tiling, dry wall, you name it, all done to a high standard of quality, and at a fair price. Michael is an exceptionally trustworthy, communicative, and smart business owner. He acts as a partner and consultant on projects, and truly cares that your goals are achieved, and that work is done at a high standard of quality. That’s a rare thing to find in today’s contracting business. If you’re needing someone to do your roof/exterior, or help execute an interior renovation, you need to get MJM out for a bid. I can’t emphasize enough how easy and professional they were to work with, reliable quality work at an AFFORDABLE price. Don’t hesitate to give them a call!"

Farr & Son Construction is equipped to handle all of your home and business needs. Farr & Son Construction is locally owned and operated.

"This contractor was hired by my 67 year old mother. Contractor was very attentive at first. Paid for 1/2 the project up front. He then started missing a day here or there. Would not return phone calls. Then would just show up one day, work for a few hours thenhen disappear again. Sometimes for weeks at a time. He was to redo my brick fireplace and after the 3rd try, me guessing he had know idea what or how to do what I was wanting and instead of telling me this he just kept getting deeper into trouble. He then asked for additional money for the carpet. I have not heard from him since. A 7-10 day project has turned into 90+ days and it is still not completed. My aluminum outlets were replaced by him with Copper and the special glue that is to go on the wiring was omitted! FIRE HAZARD. He was to hang a ceiling fan and there was no ceiling fan support box installed. It would have fallen if he would have installed. Stay away from this contractor. I have had another contract try and contact him for my carpet that I paid for and he will not return that phone call either."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

There are several things you should not do when installing drywall. Common mistakes include: adding too many screws, over-sanding, not adding backing support, and installing drywall unevenly. You also should avoid screwing into the same place twice, installing Sheetrock with tapered edges on the outside, and making too many joints.

The person’s skill will affect how many drywall sheets they can hang in one day. Some people can hang 10 or more sheets in a day, while others may only hang six or seven sheets. It also depends on the framing complexity since custom cutting and fitting the drywall can prolong the process.

Yes, it’s possible to hang drywall by yourself, but it can be challenging (and more expensive). Without an extra set of hands, you’ll need to invest in a drywall lift to position the heavy drywall sheets on the wall. You can buy one of these drywall tools for a few hundred dollars at your nearest home improvement store.

Whether you can reuse a drywall anchor or not depends on the type. Plastic expansion anchors and plastic self-drilling anchors, which expand once screwed into the wall, are single-use only. You can't straighten and reuse them after removing them from the wall.

Metal toggle bolts can be reused, provided you can successfully remove the toggle from behind the wall. Once you remove the bolt, the toggle often falls down and can be difficult to retrieve without removing the drywall.

Yes, any parts of drywall that are wet or overly moist will need to be replaced. Drywall is intended to be dry (it’s in the name, after all.), as excess moisture can lead to mold and mildew and eventually corrode your home’s foundational building pieces. Do regular inspections in your home to make sure all your plumbing is intact and in good condition—this will go a long way toward preventing leaks.
