"They, father and son, came by to give me a bid on the work to be done. They sent us the bid within a couple days. I called and accepted and the work was scheduled. It took about a month to get them out with the possibility that if some other job got completed they could make it earlier which didn't happen. They arrived on time and covered everything. They cleaned the areas that needed repair,  put a rough coat on all the spots and then went to lunch. Came back promptly after lunch after the patching plaster dried. They applied the second finishing coat, cleaned up , I paid them and they left. They were courteus, polite and prodessional.

"Words cannot express how happy I am that I found Matt to help me paint my new home! Not only did he finish the job of painting three rooms ceilings, trim, and walls in less than two days, he quoted me an extremely fair price and he did an amazing job. Matt took pride in his work, wanted to make sure everything was perfect, and that I was one hundred percent satisfied with the job. I have now found my handy man for life! If you need any work done in your home (because he does a lot more than paint) I highly recommend him. Thank you so much Matt for everything!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

When you are learning how to tape and mud drywall, waiting for things to dry requires a lot of patience. So how long does drywall mud take to dry? On average, it takes about 24 hours. However, it depends on things like the thickness of the mud, as well as the room’s temperature, humidity, and ventilation. Using thin layers of mud in a warm, low-humidity room with good airflow reduces average drying time. You also could speed up drying time by making use of hot drywall mud, which consists of a powder that you mix with water, instead of using pre-mixed mud.

A nail in drywall cannot hold very much—usually only a few pounds. A nail in a stud can add support and hold around 20 pounds. If you are trying to hang something heavier, get some help from drywall anchors—toggle bolts are very strong and able to withstand more weight.

Common causes include water leaks, settling, and impact. Address underlying issues to prevent recurring damage.

The amount of drywall you need for a 1,000-square-foot basement depends on the ceiling height, angles, number of doors and windows, and more. To find the wall square footage, multiply the width and height of each wall, minus any gaps from windows or doors, and add the totals together. You’ll also need enough drywood nails or screws to install the drywall correctly.

Drywall anchors won’t work on plaster. Instead, they will more than likely cause more damage and pull out the plaster. The best type of anchors to use on plaster walls are the ones that will bite into the surrounding area, such as molly bolts and toggle bolts. Masonry anchors with expanders on the sides also work for lighter pictures.
