"Had new 50 gallon water heater installed. There was a problem with the floor drain in the basement where the old water heater had been leaking. The guys unclogged the drain and completed the new installation all within the 90 minutes they said it would take to begin with. Because the old water heater was a 40 gallon unit they had to make some adjustments for the differences in height nd used new parts and fittings. There was no extra charge for the parts or the clearing of the drain. They even provided some guidance on another potential plumbing problem. If it needs work I will definitely call KC Metro Plumbing!"

"John was very helpful and professional. He returned my calls in a reasonable time and was very clear about what his company did, which is camera diagnostics. This is helpful to find the break or clog and not cause extra cost in labor to dig and find the problem. But not only did he do this, he was able to recommend people who could do the actual repair. Since this was my first need for help since I have moved to this area I did not have a plumber in my phone list. He recommended Alton Sewer in Independence, MO. And Josh is amazing...He came and help in what I felt was short time and was very reasonable with the cost."

"Friendly, thorough and Great work! Plus, the company I used to refinish my bathtub who required I put my new faucet and drain BEFORE the refinishing work could begin broke my new drain and stripped my new faucet spout. Thankfully, Taylor from Anthony’s Plumbing came back today and rescued me from my nightmare caused by the bathtub refinishing company (I will separately write a review of that company). While the bathtub refinishing looks good, they ruined my new plumbing they required . So, a huge Thank you to Taylor and Anthony Plumbing!!"

"They were responsive. Texted me back immediately and when they missed my call they called me. They scheduled an appointment the next day and completed the repair in a timely fashion. The plumber that came out was respectful and clean cut and completed the job quickly with no problems. I love to support locally owned companies and since this company is only been in operation for about 2 years I would highly recommend them to any other customer in the area that might need plumbing work -- I live in Leawood Kansas."

"Tried to rush three days of work into two days, didn't work. Still waiting for someone to return and seal the discharge pipes. Felt like they sent labor ready guys to do the job, I expected at least the foreman to be seasoned. Nevertheless the young men worked hard within their skill set. If you are thinking of outdoor gutter drains just get a landscaper to do it. Overall looking at the quality of the work, for the price I would of got the same service from a less expensive company."

French Drains questions, answered by experts

Yes, continuing to flush a clogged toilet is not likely to break up the clog. Instead, it will continue to put pressure on the clog while filling the bowl with more water, which can potentially cause the toilet to overflow—leading to an even bigger mess. Rather than repeatedly flushing, use a toilet plunger or plumber’s snake to dislodge the clog.

Never pour used motor oil down the drain. Doing so can have serious environmental consequences, including contaminating groundwater, endangering animals, and killing vegetation. It can also clog your pipes, causing backups in your plumbing or the wastewater treatment plant. In most places, pouring motor oil down the drain is illegal, whether you do it in your home or a storm drain.

Yes, flushing a clogged toilet can make it overflow. While flushing the toilet may push enough pressure through the system to dislodge the clog, this is unlikely. Your best bet is to use a plunger and hope the suction can break up whatever is blocking the pipe. If this doesn’t work, use a plumbing auger or call a pro to help.

Some homeowners use additives every month to help septic system performance, but according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the effectiveness of septic system and leach field additives is unknown. Further, additives made with organic solvents or alkali chemicals can actually be harmful to the necessary bacteria in a septic system.

Knowing the signs can alert you to a clogged drain line. Clogs cause slow drainage or cause no drainage (if there’s a complete blockage). You may also notice foul odors, gurgling noises, water backing up in other appliances on the same line, or a poorly flushing toilet. If you experience any of these issues and think your line might be clogged, call a plumber.
