"My husband and I highly recommend Roger King, aka, The Handy Man, for ANY of your home improvement needs! Roger was a God send when we had issues with our Florida home due to water damage in our kitchen and master bath. Once the mitigation was done and pipes were fixed, Roger came to our rescue and restored and remodeled our home. He replaced the drywall in the kitchen, bath, and garage. Took out a fireplace which we never used to make a nook for our stove and cabinets which he ordered and installed from a picture in a catalog! He ordered the cabinets, counters, kitchen island and hardware. The cabinets are beautiful and I no longer have blind cabinets that I can’t use. Roger also did electrical work in the kitchen by relocating outlets, light switches and the stove outlet. Due to the water damaged carpet in the dining room, we decided to replace it with luxury vinyl plank flooring throughout the house. Imagine our surprise when he said, I can help with that too! He provided us samples of flooring and again took care of all the details. The finishing touch to our new kitchen was the installation of new LED lights. There are several different factors that influence how long it takes to excavate. For a foundation, it could take anywhere from three days to three weeks. It can take even longer if you face weather-related delays or an inaccessible site that’s riddled with boulders and rough terrain. It may also take longer if you have clay soil, which is more difficult to dig.

To locate an underground downspout, you should start by identifying where the above ground gutter drains. Look for an entry point, such as a pipe or elbow leading into the ground. Follow the surface path for signs like depressions, landscaping disruptions, or wet areas after rain. You can use a metal detector or plumber’s snake to trace the pipe underground. For deeper pipes, a professional locator tool or camera inspection may be necessary. Visual markers or utility maps can also guide the search.

The depth of a septic tank’s drain lines is between 18 and 36 inches underground. These pipes are filled with perforations and surrounded by sand, gravel, or a combination of both, as both materials help filter wastewater. While some pipes are buried closer to the surface, this can create problems unless the soil is compact and doesn’t shift much. 

Septic tanks are typically buried between four inches and four feet deep, depending on the property, the soil, and the size of the tank. When the septic tank is buried on the deeper end of this range, it may be harder for you to locate it on your own with a soil probe or just by observing the yard for signs of the tank. However, if you have trouble finding the septic tank, a pro will be happy to help you.

You can bury underground electrical wire six inches deep—but only if you use a rigid metal electrical conduit. For rigid, non-metallic conduits, bury the wire at least 12 inches deep. If using an underground feeder cable rated for direct burial, you'll need to place it at least 18 inches deep, as it has no conduit for extra protection.
