"Frankly, I rarely give reviews but this encounter warranted it. Here we go: On a 100 degree, sweltering Saint Louis afternoon, my 23 year old HVAC system finally called it quits. I knew I was looking at a full replacement and a repair would simply cost more money in the long run as the replacement was imminent. I did my due diligence and got multiple bids. I contacted John Hively and he said he could make it out that night (it was already 6:00 when I contacted him!) He showed up just 30 minutes later and did HIS due diligence checking all the components of the HVAC system before offering his diagnosis, verdict, and the cost of parts and labor. While everyone else was giving a 7-14 day approximation, he was back the next day to drop of equipment and then the following day for the install. From 72 hours of making the call I had cool air again. He estimated a 4-6 hour completion time and his *extremely professional* crew was done in 5. They gave me a run-down on maintenance procedures, double checked everything to make sure the system was functioning as it should be, and were on their way. I can confidently state that John Hively provided the best residential service of ANY kind I've received since being a homeowner. "Had two HVAC systems in two story house, First cleaning of ductwork in 29 years. They started on the second floor, followed by the first and worked their way to the basement to finish. They did an overall good job, but left some dust bunnies even after final vacuum at end of the job. The work affected my sinuses after completion with the duct dust that was stirred up. Consider opening windows if possible to help minimize the dust that was stirred up, if anyone in house has allergies. For the price it was a good job."
